Though these cats are full domesticated, their digestive tracts are still much like their tiger ancestry and prefer raw meat instead of vegetable fillers that so many cat foods have. One particular filler is VERY hard on their digestive system... corn. I have spent hundreds of dollars on Roscoe at Veterinarians to figure out why he throws up randomly (some weeks more than others) and I've found that the there is an easier way to help him through his condition than expensive vet visits. I hope you find this article before you spend a ton of money trying to "fix" your Bengal. To be honest, there really isn't much fixing but I've found some remedies that seem to make it tolerable.
First you need to see if the ingredients on the current cat food you are using have "corn" in them. If so get rid of that food, it's actually making your Bengal sick. I've found Life's Abundance Cat Food on line and they are reasonably priced compared to other specialty cat foods and have an auto ship method that works really well. I have two cats and find that every other month is about the right amount to make sure I'm using up the previous bag. This cat food has NO corn fillers and my cat seems to tolerate it much better.
Second I've quit free feeding my cat and lower the portions so he can't overdo his eating which also irritates his stomach.
Third and last I use Pepcid AC, one half a pill a day and force feed it to him to make sure it all gets in there. Neither one of us loves this process but it's effective and stops the continual reflux.
I hope this helps many of you Bengal lovers that are struggling with this common issue in this breed and hopefully saves your pocket book and your carpets a beating!
