Life's a Beach!

I had a terrific vacation! Thursday the twenty first was the meteorological beginning of the Summer Solstice. To celebrate, my family and I went to Virginia Beach. Only a short three hours from Washington, DC, Virginia Beach is my favourite place to vacation. A person who gets tired of the crowds and negativity so often related to city life, can get away from it all in Virginia Beach without going too far or breaking the bank!

This was certainly a vacation of big milestones for our family. It was the first time my father by marriage, S, and sister by marriage T, joined us. It was also the first time in her married life that my sister and brother in law joined us. This was the first year that we did not stay in a hotel and instead rented a wheelchair accessible beach house!

I love Virginia Beach because the wheelchair accessible boardwalk extends out almost to the end of the sand! The weather was bright and sunny each day with low humidity! Virginia Beach is definitely a beach well suited for vacationers of all ages and interests. I enjoyed singing along to Elvis Presley music at the, "Viva Elvis Impersonation Contest." The impersonations ranged from Elvis in his heyday to Elvis shortly before his 1968 comeback special. Vocally, some of the Elvi were terrific, while others were, "a little pitchy!"

For as long as I can remember, my family has vacationed in Virginia Beach. I look forward to this trip all year long. We all get older and my family keeps expanding like a colorful balloon blessed by the Lord, but we will treasure the memories always. I'm a simple girl. Anyone who knows me will tell you that it is fairly simple to make me very happy.

My favourite part of vacation was people watching and hanging out on the boardwalk! I loved making homemade fudge with Mom, even though my stomach certainly shows and feels it today. No pain, no gain! Mom's homemade blue ribbon fudge is definitely well worth any pain! For the bargain shopper inside you that's screaming to get out, I recommend visiting the many thrift stores that Virginia Beach has to offer. My family also had a great time mini-golfing! Although the course was inaccessible and I couldn't golf, I enjoyed watching at no extra charge!

If you are looking for a relaxing and inexpensive vacation spot, Virginia Beach is just for you! You will have great times in this friendly, southern, atmosphere. I just have one question. Can you please sneak me in your suitcase?

This sounds like fun! Glad you enjoyed. LOL, about the Elvis contest! :-) That is great. More places should take note and have larger wheelchair areas for vacationers to enjoy. Excellent article.
