LifeStream Gluten Free Buckwheat/Sarrasin Wildberry Flavour Waffles - Product Review

My husband invented a new word the other morning. "Spungerrylicious," he exclaimed upon taking a bite of LifeStream's Hemp Plus Organic Whole Grain Waffles.

So when I decided to try the LifeStream brand of Buckwheat/Sarrasin waffles, let's just say there was no resistance to trying something new. All through the house I heard shouts of "Yay, we get spongerrylicious waffles!"

The Life Stream Gluten Free Buckwheat/Sarrasin waffles are quite good. The flavour was slightly sweet from the fruit and the texture was a good consistency (a surprise especially when we found out that there was potato starch, corn starch and rice flour in the waffle).

We decided to enjoy our waffles with ... (a hardly nutritious choice but that's another story) AMBROSIA SALAD . The combination of the waffle and salad made it doubly delicious.

As far as nutrition goes, the waffles are not a great choice in my opinion. At 220 calories and 7 g of fat, these waffles don't sound so bad. My issues is that the fat is primarily saturated fats, and that there is only 1 g of fibre and 1 g of protein and there are 38 g of carbohydrates. While there is no diabetes in my family, this would really put me off. In a family that is so nutrition conscious, this is not my ideal way to fuel my body for the work I need to do.

The price on these waffles was close to $4.00 - which might deter you from buying these for a family staple. I probably won't purchase this particular product again, partly because of the nutritional issues, partly also because there is no one in our family with gluten-related issues. If there were, I might consider this product as a good gluten-free alternative (and a treat).
