Lifestyle Design, the 4-Hour Work Week and Associated Content

Design the Lifestyle You Want by Writing for Associated Content

Lisa Thibault Pietsch
I've been a big fan of Tim Ferriss and his 4-Hour Work Week since well before the book was released. I've followed Tim Ferriss' blog "Experiments in Lifestyle Design" for years and read the original 4-Hour Work Week in a single day. In the time between the publication of The 4-Hour Work Week and The 4-Hour Work Week Expanded and Updated edition I managed to percolate many thousands of ideas about my own lifestyle design and what it would entail. After reading the expanded and updated 4-Hour Work Week, I realized I'd been sitting on an effective lifestyle design plan all along.

My lifestyle design required an income so that I could spend more time on my passion, writing and travel. I sorted through hundreds of products for online shops, explored affiliate programs, registered as a bookseller at Amazon but none of those things inspired me enough to keep me motivated through the learning curve.

Then I read the expanded and updated version of Tim Ferriss'4-Hour Work Week and my lifestyle design plan suddenly fell into place. I had been writing sporadically for Associated Content for years but never really applied myself to make more money than it cost to buy pizza once a month. That was a mistake I immediately commited myself to rectifyng.

The Performance Payment program through Associated Content allows writers to earn monthly income on their writing portfolio indefinitely. For a writer's small investment of time and energy, they can create a residual income that will keep paying month after month for as long as they are active at Associated Content.

The Performance Payments at Associated Content are based upon an author's clout and their number of page views per month. Clout is determined by overall page views so the more you're read, the more you'll earn. As an example, I have a short article I wrote in 2005 that Associated Content purchased for $12. Over the years I've earned over $98 in Performance Payments just on that one article. You can't get $110 for a 400-word article in any market today. The math proves it - Associated Content is an excellent income stream for writers trying to design a lifestye based upon Tim Ferriss' 4-Hour Work Week. For those who don't have the cash to invest in a startup, Associated Content is an excellent use of sweat equity that will provide an immediate return on investment (ROI).

The lifestyle I'm designing will require me to produce enough articles at Associated Content to generate two million page views per month. At a clout of 10 (I am currently at 8), I would earn a residual income of $4,000 per month. Just because there aren't many people doing it yet doesn't mean that I can't.

If you're a writer intent on lifestyle design like Tim Ferris describes in the 4-Hour Work Week, you'll want to start your writing portfolio today with Associated Content.

Good article! I have read 4HWW also. It never occured to me to use AC for residual income. I've read great things about AC and look forward to more articles.

It is indeed very possible. With 1500 articles at AC at this time, without promoting, which I am not learning about I make a residual of $300 to $1000 a month depending on the time of year. I also have on article that has made $1000.00 and many that have made over $100. I will be reading your articles on marketing to maximize my earnings.

What a great article. Good luck reaching your goal of two million page views per month, that would be fantastic.

    Hi Lisa,

Sweet article! I was not aware of Associated Content. I've also read the 4HWW and thanks to that, I created my blog (mentioned above).

I would love to interview you, if you have some time. Please contact me through my blog.

    Thanks!

I just posted a book review on my blog. I like his book, there is valuable information.

I am aware of someone hiring a writer to help put out the amount of post necessary to drive a good income.

Have you thought of doing this yourself for AC?

I only have 1 ehow article and its brought me pennies on the dollar. Increasing my keyword driven articles may be a good ROI for me to look into. Good article. :)

I read through the 4 Hour Workweek in a day too! I think it's his sense of humor about everything. Thank you for sharing your resource. I have the same passions: travel and writing.
