Light Up the Summer Night

Summer is a time to relax. Summer is the time to enjoy the weather without worrying about frostbite. You can take vacations to the beach for sun and snorkeling. This is not such a fantastic option for those of us who are going to have to keep working straight through the summer. You might think this summer is not going to be any fun. However, if you have a patio or backyard, there is another option. You can turn your backyard into a paradise all its own. Use this guide to bring a feeling of tranquility and festivity to your summer backyard fun. Lights can be extremely effective when it comes to bringing a little relaxation to the summer evenings you can spend admiring the backyard after work or on weekends.

Whether you want to grow a garden with cuttings, wildflowers, or day lilies, these lighting affects will work for you and your backyard experience this summer.

Target has this really cute item called a Floating Light Garden. These are little plastic flowers that come in bright shades of green, yellow, pink, orange, and purple. They have LED lights inside of them that create four different light effects. One of them is changing hues. They come in packs of three for $9.99. You can set them in a bowl of water and use them as a centerpiece, or you can float them in your pool or garden pond.

An exciting addition to your Floating Light Garden would be this 10 String Fiber Optic Butterfly Strand for only $10.99. The beautiful butterflies can be strung in windows or around your patio or backyard. They are a fantastic adornment to a summer garden experience. They operate using fiber optic technology to light up the center of each butterfly creating a warm glow. The price is great, and the affect on the atmosphere is well worth the cost.

A festive addition to the butterfly lights is the string of Pink Flowers String of 10 lights you can find at Target. You can also find them in purple at Target, and they look beautiful strung on a trellis or around the patio. They light up from the center of the flower with a tiny bulb. After the summer is over, you could bring them in and string them around a tree.

If you are interested in building a garden pond to float flowers and candles in, check out this article about deciding what kind of small body of water you should install in your backyard.

Don't stop lighting up those hot summer nights. Check out these Smith and Hawken Caged Lantern String Lights that Target offers for only $19.99. They come in a string of twenty antique style lanterns, and you can use them to offer a delicate lighting around a flower bed or on a trellis. You could also hang them between two posts along your patio or deck. These are beautiful and stylish. If you don't like the bright colors of the floating lights mentioned above, these lanterns might be perfect for you and your summer relaxation project. This is really a great deal for the price - twenty lights for less than twenty dollars and you can use them long after the summer ends and into the fall.

Target also has a great deal on these Floating Blossom Lights for your pool, garden pond, or as a centerpiece. You can use these the same way you use the Floating Garden Lights, but you have the ambience of candlelight instead of LED lights. These candles that float are also great for a summer romance. They come in a set of six assorted shades of blue, pink, and white. They are packed with votives, and they can be used with any citronella votives to keep the annoying summer bugs away. The cost is also good at only $39.99 for six.
