Lightly Salted Organic Brown Rice Cakes from Lundberg Family Farms
These Rice Cakes Were Not My Favorite but I Still Thought They Were Pretty Good
It had been a very long time since I had ate a rice cake. I couldn't place the last time that I had. When I thought about rice cakes, jokes about them tasting like cardboard came to mind but I didn't think that was true and hopes that these would taste good. After getting home and putting away all of the groceries it was time to make lunch. Part of lunch was going to be peanut butter sandwiches but instead I put some peanut butter on some of the Lightly Salted Organic Brown Rice Cakes from Lundberg Family Farms. As I eyed the packing closer I was very happy to notice that they were vegan. In addition they were gluten free. When I first took a bite of the rice cake I thought that it tasted good but I also thought that it tasted a bit off too. I couldn't quite place it but I guess there was an absence of sweet to the rice cake.
Now I don't want to completely say that these organic rice cakes taste bad because that is not the case at all. The Vegan Gluten Free Lightly Salted Organic Brown Rice Cakes from Lundberg Family Farms tasted like your average rice cake except they had something else to them that made them a little bit different, not bad but different. I didn't mind this at all and along with peanut butter I didn't even really notice the differentness. While eating lunch I looked over the package to see what I could find out about the rice cakes. They were made with organic brown rice and sea salt, a very short list of ingredients. The next thing I noticed on the packaging I found shocking and that was the number of rice cakes that were in the bag, thirteen. I realize that it is just being superstitious to worry about the number thirteen, but I certainly took notice to it, as well as the nutrition facts.
Seeing how rice cakes have a reputation of tasting like cardboard I wasn't sure what nutrition that would have to offer. In one Vegan Gluten Free Lightly Salted Organic Brown Rice Cake from Lundberg there is only seventy calories without any calories from fat. Each rice cake contains fifty-five milligrams of sodium, sixty-five milligrams of potassium, fifteen grams of carbohydrates and one gram of fiber and protein each. I didn't think that these were particular;y great but I can see why rice cakes are a preferred food when you are dieting. All in all I thought that these organic rice cakes were good but I don't think that we get them too often. They were on sale for two dollars and twenty-nine cents and so I think I may try another variety just for fun. I would recommend for anyone to try these out but I wouldn't stock up on them until you know that you like them.
