Lights Go Out

Drew Bush
Yellow moon shining

Ghost, witch, and goblin run past

Night shadow blows by

Fall breezes cool skin

The night of the dead begins

Ready for night sin

Do not be alone

Souls may try to take you down

Keep garlic close by

You walk down the street

Impervious to night screams

Until the lights die

Ahead the dark road

Your heart pounds hard in your chest

What can you do now?

You stare at the sky

There are no stars to guide you

You are all alone

Something touches you

You turn to look and eyes beam

You take off running

"Stay away from me!"

You need help to find your way

Keep running, just run.

You lose your footing

Down to the wet ground you fall

There is noise nearby

You get up and yell

"Who are you, what do you want?"

You back up slowly

You're hit and you fall

Something holds you down, can't breathe

"Get off me, get off!"

Nothing you can do

Pain riddles through your body

You are all alone
