Tye
Like the first sip
Of ice cold sweet tea,
With a sole mint leaf,
On a hot summer day.

Like the first fall
Of snow on an open field
As it covers with a blanket of white
That beams in the sunlight.

Like the first taste
Of chocolate on the palette.
Brown sweetness slides down the throat;
Euphoria spreads the mouth into a smile.

Like the first laugh
Of a newborn baby boy.
Innocence and joy erodes
While eyes close with giggles.

Like the first smile
From a new friend.
Wariness present at that moment
But trust quickly forms for the long haul.

Like the first penny
Saved from an honest day's work,
Held in hands filled with pride
And spent out of necessity.

Like the first presence
of the sun as it rises
Promises start a new day
and whispered in the silence of the world.

Like the first prayer
Answered by God.
He heard everything you said
And rewarded you out of love.

Like the first time
You held my hand
A connection out of warmth
And feelings that will last a lifetime.
