Like You

Missy H.

This is a poem for my two Grandmas Cleta Hamilton, and Jo Snider, my mom Lawanna Hamilton, and my aunt Jackie Hester.

I am like you
in many ways
I hope more so now
than in my younger days

Some ways may be unseen
but I know they are there
They make me who I am
even if no one is aware

A sense of humor
My willingness to share
My creative nature
and the ways that I care

A quiet grace
that I am still learning these days
It comes and goes
and I pray that it stays

A knowledge of right
and a search for what is true
tho the times I do wrong
are more than a few

I hope I can be
more like you each day
but until I get there
I will settle for halfway
