Pronounced "eclectic," the shop was formerly called Sovereign Soles when it debuted in August 2008 at its Harmonie Park locale for women's clothes, shoes and accessories. The brainchild of an aspiring shoe designer, Nedra Merriweather, IKLEKTIKK was founded one year earlier when she took a leap of faith from her job in the automotive industry and parlayed her consignment and boutique buying into a full-time enterprise.

By focusing on trends and a "this-elicits-stares" tenet, IKLEKTIKK seeks to provide fashion without a designer price-tag. It inspires customers to create their own statements with clothes.

"First impressions matter," trumpets the IKLEKTIKK website. In attempts to establish itself as the quintessential fashion maven center, the boutique advises, "Every woman wishes she could rely on the advice of someone with an impeccable sense of style, knowledge of fabrics, fashion trends and eye for what looks best on her own unique form."

This business intends to do just that.

IKLEKTIKK maintains that most celebrity fashion icons wear designer clothing supplemented with basic affordable items. For instance, when completing a look, "a quality $10 tank" top can just help to round out a pricey ensemble.
