Visual Search is here!

Do you often find yourself staring at a model in a fashion magazine, wishing you could buy the shoes she or he is wearing but knowing it would cost you half a year's rent? Is Off-Fifth still an offense to your wallet? If so, Like.com is just what you need.

Like.com offers a visual search where the contents of photos are used to find similar items, be it a shoe, a handbag a watch, jewelry and more, for a better price.

On the mail page, Like's Hot Picks display some fashionable accessories, allowing you to click on any one of them thus setting off the search for a similar item at the best possible price.

If say, you clicked on a particular shoe, Like.com would ask you to indicate which parts of the shoe are most important to you: color, shape or pattern. You could then filter the results by price range, brand, heel, color etc, just like any other comparison shopping engine.

In every case, you could start the search from scratch by specifying what you are looking for. For example, when searching for a watch for my husband I clicked on the 'Watches' icon on the top right of the screen, then clicked the 'men' box and had a choice of gold, silver or leather bands, chronographs ans analogs. Each choice had a drop box where I could choose 'round face', 'square face', 'fashion' or 'mens'.

Alternatively, I could have clicked on the 'Likeness' photos further down on the page, finding a nice watch and setting the visual search engine to do all the work for me.

The handbag search is very detailed: the seeker can chose between shoulder bags, clutches, satchels, totes and functional bags, and each category has many subcategories that apply to it, such as front pocket, slouchy, studded, leather etc.

Like.com is fun to play with when you have some downtime at home or at work, you don't have to buy anything to enjoy all the site has to offer. I anxiously await the clothing visual search!
