Lil Mama's VYP: Voice of the Young People is a Good Debut Album

Lil Mama is one of the freshest faces in hip-hop music. She used the success of her first single to become a legitimate force in hip hop. But will the success of Lip Gloss propel Lil Mama into superstardom, or will she just be another one-hit wonder?

On her debut album VYP:Voice Of The Young People, we are set to find out for sure.

The first single off of VYP:Voice Of The Young People is the infectious Lip Gloss. The single was incredibly successful and launched Lil Mama as a successful artist. The track was produced by James "Groove" Chambers and features a simplistic and infectious beat. The song was one of the most popular tracks of 2007.

The second single is G-Slide (Tour Bus). The track borrows the melody and lyrics from the popular children's nursery rhyme The Wheels On The Bus. The song is produced by Dr. Luke who masterminded the Avril Lavinge Girlfriend Remix featuring Lil Mama. The song however just lacks any substance and fails to catch on with listeners.

On the third single Lil Mama calls out heavy hitters T-Pain and Chris Brown on the track Shawty Get Loose. The track is solid and features a very catchy beat. Both T-Pain and Chris Brown both add to the track to make it a success.

The forth single is L.I.F.E. the track touches on very emotional deep issues that have gone on in Lil Mama's life. The song is definitely different than the friendly upbeat fare found on the album.

What It Is (Strike A Pose) once again teams Lil Mama with T-Pain. The song has a very old school feel to it. The beat is incredibly catchy and T-Pain delivers another solid guest appearance.

One Hit Wonder features the always energetic DJ Khaled. The song is not one of the better tracks on the album but talks about the topic of Lil Mama just being a one hit wonder like tons of other young artists.

Truly In Love features Peter Toh. The song finds Lil Mama singing along with rapping. The song is a solid mid-tempo track.

Make It Hot (Put It Down) is another very solid up-tempo track. The song has a very catchy beat which adds to the track.

VYP: Voice Of The Young People is a fairly solid debut album. VYP: Voice Of The Young People gets 7.5 out of 10. Make sure you pick up Lil Mama's debut album VYP:Voice Of The Young People when it is available in stores on April 29.
