LiL Wayne Detained in Texas on Marijuana Charges

Rapper Lil Wayne is headed to prison in New York in February maybe for as long as one year for gun possession charges. The rapper may have new charges stemming from the discovery of marijuana Friday on two of his tour buses by U.S. Border patrol agents.

According to CNN after a concert tour in Hidalgo, Texas Wayne and his entourage were in route to Laredo, Texas when they were stopped by Border patrol agents, and drug dogs discovered marijuana. Border agents did not disclose how much marijuana was found on the tour buses, or where exactly the drugs were on the buses when discovered. Lil Wayne was among a dozen people detained from his traveling group and all were later released.

Lil Wayne was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on September 27, 1982. According to wikipedia Wayne's real name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. The Grammy award winning hip hop singer is a former member of the rap group Hot Boys. "Get it How U Live" was Lil Wayne's first album with Hot Boys released in 1997. His solo debut "Tha block is Hot" was released in 1999.

Lil Wayne has announced some possible upcoming collaborations including an album with rapper Juelz Santana called "I can't feel my face" which has been in production a number of years. Wayne has been interviewed by Katie Couric and is featured on the song "Revolver" with Madonna on her 2009 greatest hits album called "Celebration". Lil Wayne has four children.

Lil Wayne earned a GED, then went on to enroll at the University of Houston in 2005 majoring in political science. However, in 2007 Wayne had discontinued his online courses.
