Lil Wayne and Khloe Kardashian Share Tax Lien Experience

IRS Demands $1.13 Mil and California Seeks $18,490

The IRS has filed a tax lien of $1.13 Mil against Lil Wayne, 27, who is also known as Weezy, but whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carl, Jr. Carl is presently in jail on weapons charges, stemming from an arrest in July 2007 involving possession of a .40 caliber handgun and marijuana after performing in New York at the Beacon Theatre. He pleaded guilty to the weapons charge and was sentenced to a one-year sentence on Rikers Island.

The present lien represents taxes owed from 2004, 2005 and 2007. There was also a lien filed by the IRS for $977,840 in 2008, which has been satisfied.

By contrast, reality TV star Khloe Kardashian, 26, has a tax lien filed by California for a comparatively modest $18,490. Kardashian stated that the taxes were paid to her former accountant, but were never remitted to the state. She now is reported to have a new accountant, and the outstanding amount is said to be paid. It has not been confirmed the payment has been received or the lien has been removed from public record.
