Lil Wayne fans all across the world have written in request of a review for the newest Weezy CD to hit the shelves. Fear not, the deluxe version of Tha Carter IV has officially been purchased for the purposes of this review. While Drake is an artist that I enjoy listening to, the same does not apply to the Young Money leader. However, I did enjoy I Am Not A Human, the CD is still on my iPad at this moment. While I do not generally enjoy the music released by Lil Wayne, he can put together some decent material from time to time. If you are a hardcore fan of Lil Wayne, you should save yourself the time required to read this article. If you are bent on adding the CD to your collection, support your favorite artist and go about your day. However, if you are a fan on the fence, you may want to read this article and take it into consideration before shelling out your dollars. Tha Carter IV includes 18 tracks in total with a host of features. Drake, T-Pain, Busta Rhymes, Bruno Mars, Cory Gunz, Jadakiss, Rick Ross, Nas, Shyne and John Legend all contribute to the music on the album.
Most releases that include a large number of features tend to feel crowded and overwhelming, but that does not happen with the music on this album. Lil Wayne manages to hold his own on every track without disappearing in the shuffle of other artists. Also, unlike his previous release, this feels much less like a Young Money album and more like what you would expect from a Lil Wayne CD. There has been a lot of talk about Weezy finally writing his own lyrics, there was no noticeable improvement in the lyrical quality of these songs. In fact, they seem less creative and witty than older lyrics that were written by someone else. The best songs on this album include Blunt Blowin, 6 Foot 7 Foot, Nightmares Of The Bottom, She Will and John. 8 songs on this CD were enjoyable of the 18 included on this CD. A John Legend feature usually leads to a classic when Kanye West is on lead vocals. However, Lil Wayne drops the ball with this feature and a few others on the album. Tha Carter IV deluxe version scores a 2.5/5, pick up the standard version for a much better value.
