Lil Wayne's Tha Carter III Doesn't Live Up to the Hype

The Reviewer
Tha Carter III has been one of the most anticipated albums in recent years. The album is supposed to crown New Orleans, Louisiana, rapper Lil Wayne as the undisputed best rapper in the game. Now that Tha Carter III is finally near release, has Lil Wayne lived up the larger than life hype?

The first single off of Tha Carter III is Lollipop featuring the late Static Major. The track is produced by Deezle and Jim Jonsin and features Lil Wayne using the Roger Troutman Vocoder vocal effect. The song is very strong commercially however fans expecting for Lil Wayne to come hard lyrically on his first single are going to be sorely disappointed.

The second single A Millie, appeals to Lil Wayne's more hardcore base of fans. The track features Corey Gunz. The song finds Lil Wayne filled with metaphors and punchlines galore. The song will definitely make fans excited for the rest of the album.

Kanye West produces Comfortable which features R&B legend Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. The song is definitely one of the stand out tracks of the album. The song features a solid beat and chorus.

Just Blaze produces the Jay-Z and Lil Wayne collaboration Mr. Carter. The song is very solid lyrically and the minimalist beat allows the rappers to shine lyrically.

Tie Me Down teams Lil Wayne with Robin Thicke over another Kanye West produced track. The song is a lot more organic than a typical Kanye West produced track. The song definitely stands out from the rest of the album style wise.

T-Pain joins Lil Wayne on the Play-N-Skillz produced Got Money. The song is a typical T-Pain collaboration. The song features a strong chorus and a solid beat.

Alchemist produces Nothin' On Me which features fellow rappers Juelz Santana and Fabolous. The song features the three rappers at their strongest with each rapper delivering a strong verse.

Lil Wayne is joined by Bobby Valentino on Mrs. Officer. The song is fairly solid however it just doesn't stand out.

La La teams Busta Rhymes and Brisco over a David Banner produced track. The song is definitely different sonically.

Tha Carter III has been one of the most anticipated albums in recent memory. It is completely unrealistic for the album to live up to the monstrous hype. Lil Wayne may be the best rapper in the game; however, the beats on the album just do not equal his lyrical ability. Overall Tha Carter III gets 7.5 out of 10. If you are a fan of Lil Wayne make sure you pick up Tha Carter III when it is available in stores on June 10th.

my favorite rapper is Jay Z, so I dont think that lil wayne is the best rapper alive. To be honest i didnt even have him in the top 3 untill His first single dropped from this album . Man i am so glad that The Leak leaked, because if it had not the Carter 3 would have been bashed so hard by critics. I still dont think the album lived up to what people said it was going to be, but it is better than i thought it would be. he is still not the best but he is now in the Top 3.

P.S. when are we really going to sit down and rank these rapper, I mean cant we just do it like golf
