There are about one thousand varieties of lilac bushes. Some of them stay small at around 3 or 4 feet. Some lilac bushes can grow up to 30 feet in length. You will need to trim the bushes no matter how big they get. If you want to keep them smaller you are going to have to prune them more often. Lilacs come in a variety of colors but the most popular is purple. You can also purchase white lilac bushes which are also very beautiful.
Lilacs love the sun but can also be planted in partial shade. If you notice that the ground is getting very dry you can water the lilac bushes from time to time. If you are planting a lilac bush make sure that the ground is moist. You will want to stir up the soil or till the soil. I would suggest planting lilac bushes close to the windows so that when you open the windows you can smell the lilac bushes in your home. You can also cut off some of the flowers and keep them inside.
Lilacs are easy to take care of and don't require a lot of maintenance. They smell great and you can have flowers for several weeks in the spring or for about a month and a half. It all depends on how many varieties of lilac bushes you plant in your yard. You don't have to worry about planting them every year because they will come back each summer. If you are a big lilac bush fan you can plant several varieties of whites and purples around your home. Make sure you know which size you are getting before you plant them. Lilacs are pretty hardy and can be transplanted if you dig down far enough. Lilac bushes have deep roots.

Post a CommentLilacs are one of my favorite shrubs :)
If you pick the flowers mid bloom and hang them upside down, they dry a very pretty purple color that lasts a long time in wreaths.
