Lime Away Product Review
The bottom of the bathtub has black stains and the wall tiles had spots of dirt in the cervices. It was frustrated moving in to see the bathtub area wasn't clean professionally cleaned. Lime-Away comes in a green 28oz bottle or 16 oz spray bottle. The directions insist on wearing gloves and safety goggles to avoid any contact with the skin or eyes. If you do get any of the product on you, contact for medical help immediately. Also this product isn't to be used on natural marble, stone, terrazzo, anodized or polished aluminum, painted or metallic, color grout or counter tops. If your unsure if the product may damage a certain type of material in your bathroom, test a small patch first. This way you can test the product in a small area that won't be noticeable before continuing.
The cap wasn't easy to pry open and it smelled of rotten eggs. The directions say to apply and then wipe immediately. The second time I used this product, I left it on for 10 minutes to help destroy the black stains. I also allowed the liquid to set on the tiles to help dig into the cervices.
When it came to cleaning, the black stain looked faded but wasn't entirely gone. Rust spots around the handles and the faucet head were easily wiped away with a sponge. Between the crevices took a little bit more elbow grease but still did finally come off. It's a good idea to take breaks in between cleaning due to the strong smell of the product. Using this product on stainless steel items such as sinks, tubs, doors, etc will likely cause damage to the stainless steel. Some have reported having the stainless steel appear dull when the product was used on this type of material.
Overall except for the smell factor, I would recommend purchasing Lime Away if you are dealing with hard rust stains. At Wal*Mart the current cost was just under $5.00 for the 28oz flip top bottle. I moved into a new apartment 5/09 and noticed the lime scale and hard water deposit on my shower fixtures and the plate looks like it needed a hammer and chisel to get it off. I have used everything, so I picked a bottle of Lime-Away trigger for my Church because of the hard water stain on the water cooler. I used it for my shower instead, I turned to get a cleaning cloth and all the stains had came off and drainin in the tub. This is way 1am I was so excited. I then lifted my toilet cover because it takes it a long time to fill up after flushing, and of my gosh the water flow is awsome now. I got on my hands and knees sprayed the water pressure nodule and even the tubing that goes to the tank of the toilet, I used in in my kitchen and 1/2 bath. I was up until 2am, and only went to bed because I used the whole bottle. I came to work and told everybody about Lime-Away. I cannot wait to go back to the store I will be
Is Lime Away safe enough to clean my coffee pot? What are the ingredients in this product.
Don't buy that "crap" IT DOES NOT WORK I paid all that money for it and Comet and really great sponge scrubber from Target did a whole lot better than that did. Lime Away is mostly water I'll tell you where it did a really great job was in the toilet bowls made it really WHITE and SHINY.
