Limeade Tea

Wake Up Your Mouth

JTA Knowles
Summer is here and the iced tea is brewing here in North Texas. South Louisiana is definitely brewing their own idea of refreshing iced tea concoctions, too. I'm ½ Texan and ½ Louisianan, so I have the best of both states when it comes to cooling down the boys with good old fashioned iced tea. But, drinking the same flavor tea gets boring and everybody wants a fresh new tantalizing brew to wake the mouth up. I'm probably one of the few people who brew my iced tea in my coffee pot. Yes, my coffee pot. In Louisiana, sun tea is the most common way to make iced tea. Alas, in my house in North Texas, I put four family size teabags in the coffee pot, fill up 3 gallon jugs ¾ full of cold water, divide the tea between them, add a ½ cup of sugar, 2 tablespoons of Sweet-N-Low, mix it and stick it in the frig to chill. One hour later, we have plenty of iced tea for the next 3-4 days. In our family, we like sweet, sweet tea. I recently discovered, by accident, a way to liven up our tea. I had a ½ cup of tea and wanted to fill up again, so I went to the frig and poured from the green gallon jug. Well, surprise! It was the Limeade that I had made for my son the day before. I decided to see how it tasted before throwing it out and that was some mouth watering, flavor exploding tea. So here's how to make it on purpose:

Limeade Tea

4 family size tea bags (any brand)

1 tablespoon of Sweet-N-Low per gallon

3 gallon jugs filled ¾ full of cold water

1 Minute Made Limeade Concentrate (divided between 3 gallons)

Brew tea in coffee maker. Fill 3 gallon jugs ¾ full of cold water. Pour brewed tea into jugs. Add Sweet-N-Low. Cut Limeade concentrate into 3 pieces and mix into tea. Chill for 1-2 hours in refrigerator.

You can also flavor your tea by adding regular sized bags of spiced tea such as Chamomile (Add alittle honey to it.), (Thia)(Spicey Mexican), Rasberry Zinger, Peach, Tangerine Orange Zinger, Black Cherry Berry, and even Mint.
