Limericks, a favorite and fun way of telling stories, have been around for many years. They can be very funny, sad or just tell a lovely story. Some folks can rattle off a limerick in no time and quite likely a drink or two can add to the fun.

Limericks could be a fun way to teach children special kinds of poetry. The cadence and rhyming set up a quick pattern.

Enjoy my limerick about Mame.

There was an old lady named Mame
From the Emerald Isle she came,
Mame got in a jam
'Cause she stole a fresh ham,
But that was Mame's claim to fame!

Have fun being an Irish person for one day, at least.
