Limit Gift Wrapping Costs

The wrapping of presents to make the packaging of the gift just as gorgeous as the present within the wrapping is a learned skill and can also lead to the wrapping of the package being very costly. By the time a person uses paper, tissue paper, tape, labels, cards, bows, ribbon, bags and boxes, the cost of wrapping gifts can add up. Whether it is a Christmas, birthday, anniversary, baby shower, wedding or any other type of gift there are ways to make the gift look exceptional without spending a lot on the packaging. The majority of the ideas discussed below will both be a beneficial way of recycling as well.

1) Gift Boxes

Many department stores will give a person gift boxes during the holiday months with their purchases. Even if the items that you are purchasing are not gifts when the sales person offers the boxes to you, accept a couple to wrap the gifts that you purchase at other stores. Additionally, the majority of people receive gifts do not analyze or even notice what type of box a gift is wrapped in, Therefore most of the time a person should feel free to wrap a gift in any box that they have, a shoe box or the box which the item was shipped within.

2) Bows

When unwrapping gifts it is possible to save the bows, ribbons, and other decorations of the gifts. The decorative materials that can be saved from packages that someone received can be reused to decorate gifts that they give to other people. By placing the ribbons, bows and decorative items in a storage container, they will remain in better condition than if they are stored simply in a sack of some sort. By simply recurling the ribbons or placing double stick tape on the back of the bows they will work and look just as good as they did originally.

3) Gift Bags

The gift bags that gifts that a person receives come in can easily be saved and reused to package the gifts that they want to gift to other people. If there is a tag already on the bag it is simple just to cut it off or peal off the sticker. Additionally, the nice paper bags that many stores place a person's purchases in look perfectly nice as a gift bag if the giver adds some tissue paper and if the bag and the gift are from the same store.

4) Tags

When making tags to attach to presents that are either gift wrapped or in a gift bag there are a couple of easy ways to place tags or labels on the package. The first way is to cut the fronts off of Christmas cards that a person receives from friends, family or businesses in previous years and fold them to make small tags. If making a tag from the old Christmas cards they can simply be attached to the gift using a staple or double stick tape. If it is not a Christmas gift that is being wrapped, the front of any card received that fits the theme of the gift can be used. Another way to label gifts is by using the sticker label tags that are sometimes include in the December issues of some magazines. Another way to label Christmas gifts that is less expensive than the labels that can be purchased in the wrapping paper section of stores, is to simple print a seasonal image on address labels, using a computer and printer.

5) Paper

A trick that has been around for a long time when if comes to wrapping paper is to use the paper from brown paper grocery bags to wrap the gifts.
