Neighborhood: Lincoln

Lincoln, Nebraska, has got it going on for the holidays. The seasonal spirit is heart felt and collectively shared in Lincoln, providing many holiday events at little or no charge to the public. The best part is that all the coolest light displays are on or near O street in the downtown area. Check out some of these celebrations in and around Lincoln.

The Mayor himself will be at the Wells Fargo Plaza on November, 25th to flip the switch on the light displays in the downtown area. The event will be completely free to the public. Musicians and dancers will accent the inspiring night. The entertainment offered for the holiday celebration will include all ages and all entertainment, like the event, will be free of charge. Lincolns Downtown Lighting Ceremony will be held between 6 and 8pm on the 25th. This wonderful experience can be found on 13th and O Street, or for more information, feel free to call (402) 434-6901.

On Dec, 1st Lincoln will present on of the largest parades in the Nations region. The Star City Holiday Parade will present an array of floats, music, balloons and more to get some 85,000 people hyped for the holiday season. Like the Downtown Lighting Ceremony, all admissions will be free to all. Public transportation and handicap access will even be offered to ensure everyone is able to enjoy this event. The Star City Holiday Parade will be held on Dec, 1st from 9:30am to 1:00pm in downtown Lincoln right on O street. To learn more call: (402) 434-6902.

Not far outside Lincoln you can visit Grand Island to visit the Fantasy of Trees Display. The event will feature beautifully decorated holiday trees at the Stuhr Museum of the Prairie Pioneer. Handicap access will be offered, but admission will vary according to age. The Fantasy of Trees exhibit will begin on November, 26th and continue until Sunday on January, 6th. The Museum is located on 3133 West Highway 34 in Grand Island and is well worth the drive for Lincoln residents. To learn more about this event and others held at the Stuhr Museum of the Prairie Pioneer call: (308) 385-5314.

With these events in mind, Lincoln residents have their season cut out for them. There are so many light displays and holiday spirit to go around, you won't be able to help but get caught up in all fun.
