Linda Hogan: Hollywood's Newest Cougar

Linda Hogan, the 48-year-old ex-wife of wrestler Hulk Hogan and mother of "real-ality" stars Nick and Brooke Hogan, has been dating a 19-year-old schoolmate of her daughter's who looks like he could be related to the Hogan family. It's so weird that he looks like he could be her son, and he's young enough to have come out of her vagina, but now he's going in it.

I guess this need to date someone that looks like a relative isn't very surprising, considering Hulk dated a woman named Jennifer McDaniel for awhile that looked way too similar to his daughter Brooke, and his marriage was broken up when he had an affair with one of Brooke's friends. Oh yeah, a paparazzo also snapped some pictures of him rubbing lotion on his daughter's butt. So this family some issues. But back to the cougar.

Linda joins a growing list of women in the spotlight who are dating younger men. Demi Moore is still the queen of the cougars, however. Her A-list status landed her a then 25-year-old Ashton Kutcher when she was forty. I guess that was just her way of dealing with a midlife crisis. I still wonder where this couple will be Demi is 60 and Ashton is 45, however. I think Ashton will be over this whole "having sex with a famous older woman is cool" phase by then, and will be going through a midlife crisis of his own, which will lead to casual relationships with 20 year-old Playboy playmates. But if this relationship does last, he's probably going to be getting some on the side (if he isn't already).

Then there's Madonna, who is ten years older than poor Guy Ritchie, who might as well wear a leash. She may not be quite old enough to be his mother, but she sure acts like she is, and Kim Cattrall has taken a page from her Sex in the City character: dating a guy 23 years younger than she is.

However, Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins are probably the best cougar couple, having been together about seventeen years, despite the fact that Tim Robbins is about a dozen years younger than Sarandon. Though they've never married, they are definitely one of Hollywood's most powerful (and well-matched) couples.

So why do some of these untraditional couples last so long? Well, men are probably initially attracted to a cougar because of her power, experience and sexual prowess. They then later realize she's pretty wise and can be a very positive influence on their life. Or they just have an older woman fetish or mother-figure fetish. And of course the woman in the relationship is going to go for it: it makes her feel younger and special and like she really has something to offer.

But, sadly, many of these cougar/kitten relationships will eventually end. There's only so much plastic surgery can do, and men age better than women do. So when things start sagging and dragging and the sex is no longer so amazing, they may want to move on. But cougars are resilient, and they know that they can always find an older man and resign themselves to being pampered housecats, if need be.
