Linda Iruke Weds American Idol Season 7 Contestant Chikezie Eze

In a very romantic and warm ceremony, Linda Ugochi Iruke said "I do" to her sweetheart, formers American Idol singing sensation Chikezie "Chekeasy" Eze in Ladera Heights, California. On Sunday July 10, 2011, well-wishers watched and beamed as the very-much-in-love couple exchanged their vows before the congregation. It was a beautiful ceremony in a beautiful setting by a beautiful couple to say the least. It was short, sweet, and to the point: no long sermon, just straight to statement of purpose, exchanging of vows, rings, and lighting of the unity candle.

The couple was wed by their pastor and close friend Perry Fuller at the University Christian Church in the posh Ladera Heights Neigborhood. Attendance at the ceremony included very recognizable faces from both the Nigerian and American communities, but the parents of the groom and family members were noticeably absent.

I must say that I was very much glad to be present at this wedding. Much ado have been made by people who know nothing about this couple, except what they hear through hearsay or junk reporting. Yes, there was the talk about the age difference, but like the late Aaliya sang, "Age Ain't Nottin' But a Number"! Then, there was the talk that the groom is much unprepared because he doesn't have a college degree. I am very much an advocate for education, but to belittle this man as if he has no education is appalling. He does have some college education, as he attended Santa Monica College before he even went to Idol. He is musically inclined and the world has seen his ability atleast via Ameircan Idol. With time, he could be making more money than those people who are putting him down (vis-a-vis his parents). The two looked very much in love, and at times during the ceremony both shed tears, the bride lovingly wiping the groom's face as he teared up; they were just beautiful!

Following the the ceremony, the reception was held in a nice location in Long Beach, California. The ambiance of the hall was welcoming and romantic. With candles in mini red vases as center pieces, the hall had a warm and exciting feel. The food was exceptional; it was catered by Veronica's Kitchen and included the usual rice (both fried and jolof), fufu with egusi and vegetable soups, and yam porrigde. It was overall a great celebration of love.

My only regret is having to leave early before the end of the event. Otherwise, I believe it was a great great successful wedding. Happy married life to you both!
