Linda McMahon and Clothes Hangers

Rambling on a Thursday

Linda McMahon pile-drived her opponent in the Republican Primary in the Connecticut Senate race Wednesday, and she's now got her sights set on her next opponent. For those not familiar with Ms. McMahon, she is the former CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment, and she is the wife of the king of wrestling entertainment, Vince McMahon. According to CBS News, Linda McMahon said she is ready to commit 50 million dollars of her own money to finance her upcoming campaign. Shoot, that's probably just a drop in her financial bucket.

I think her opponent needs to prepare himself. In a lot of ways, politics is a lot like wrestling. Both are conducted in a public forum where the opposing forces go one-on-one. There's always a lot of name-calling and mud-slinging. And in addition, each side shouts at the top of their lungs about what they're going to do to the cheers of their supporters. Smack talk is a big part of professional wrestling.

I think a lot of people like Hulk Hogan and Macho Man should go into politics. I know I'd enjoy watching that news coverage more if there was a chance someone might jump up and swing a chair at someone during a heated debate. I've seen clips from other countries where one guy suddenly jumps across a table because of a legal debate and tries to manhandle some other representative. At least they seem passionate about something. I tried watching the Congress in action sometimes and wonder if anyone is awake.

On an entirely different note, according to "The Oxford Eagle" newspaper, in the town of Oxford, Mississippi this week a lady named Laura (no last name given) was on her way out to her garage one morning when she encountered Michael Lynn Adams carrying her leaf blower. She didn't know Mr. Adams but assumed he had a leaf emergency of some kind. Unfortunately for Mr. Adams, Laura doesn't appreciate someone taking her things without asking, and also she was holding several clothes hangers. She began to hit Mr. Adams with the hangers until he dropped her leaf blower and ran to his car, a purple convertible.

As is always the case when a person doesn't plan well, Mr. Adams apparently didn't know the subdivision very well because he took off in his purple convertible down a dead-end street. He turned the car around and, of course, had to drive right back by Laura's house, where she was out in the yard dialing 911. Needless to say, he was apprehended a short time later.

An interesting point, he was in a borrowed car. Why anyone would borrow a purple convertible to rob a house is beyond me. I mean, if you have to borrow one, at least get something with a neutral color. And I was disappointed that the news account didn't tell whether Laura's hangers were wire, plastic or wood. Just goes to show the old saying is true, tragic things can happen around the home, even if it's not your home. Just ask Mr. Adams.

I love how all the "related articles" are about leaf blowers. What, weren't there any other articles about beatings with clothes hangers?

Enjoyed this one too! I don't understand the whole McMahon Senate race and I am thankful for women like Laura.

My mom had a purple Malibu when we were growing up. It was an eye-sore. It ended-up in a demolition derby.

I just don't know what to make of Linda McMahon at all. As for the thief in the purple car, geez, just geez.
