Lindsay Lohan Almost Got Off Scot-Free

Lohan's Demise Since Her Rising Stardom in The Parent Trap

We all know Lindsay Lohan by now. In fact, everyone who follows the news should know every Lohan alive. Now what does that mean? That means that being a coked out, DUI arrested redhead will not only get you parts in movies, but will also reduce your sentences for breaking the law and going to jail.

This all started with Nichole Richie and Paris Hilton going to jail over possessions and DUI's and it now seems to be a fad in the celebrity community (much like so many arising stars suddenly have had intercourse on camera!) Either way, this is not something our youth should be using as a role model type. They shouldn't think that they'll just be able to get out of any situation because of their looks, or how much people like them, or know them around town.

The truth is, America has to stop basing their lives around what celebrities think. Take out the airbrushing, the movies that cut out the bloopers, and the gross/repelling personality traits that a lot of these 'celebrities' or HUMANS (as I like to call them) have, then there is just a person. Simply a person with a lot of money (sometimes not) that became popular for a few things they did and are followed around like the head of a high school clique.

Lindsay Lohan is one of these. Pictures of drug use, being sentenced to a 21-day sentence in jail where she was released early; these are all things to avoid as 'role model' material. She's simply a girl in her twenties that has a TON of issues with drugs and alcohol (oh yeah, and most likely her own sexual orientation also.)

Look, it's fine for people do to what they're going to do. It's actually encouraged for people to be themselves, and strive to be the best at what they can be. When I see little girls dressed up as Paris Hilton or Lindsay Lohan talking about how they'll all be rich and famous one day, it makes me sick to my stomach.

I suppose we can't completely blame this on the celebrities. I mean, after all, they're simply living their lives as they want to live it. Something we should all be doing also instead of living through other beings. Lindsay Lohan is not a muse for us to live by, she's an example of how we should not act as human beings. Her issues with drugs and alcohol are an example: There should be a documentary stating that this is not how we want our children growing up.

Everything now-a-days is influenced by television and the media, but we can slowly break this habit. Instead of having a nation full of people sitting in front of the couch eating, playing video games, and watching what their favorite celebrities are up to, we could be outside changing the world. Building houses and creating cures to diseases, teaching others how to be social again. We live in a world that is fully electronics, what's stopping us from becoming everything we are used to seeing.

Lindsay Lohan isn't the attack, the attack is our inability to change the way we look at life, it's the teenage girls that get bulimia from wishing to be as skinny as celebrities, it's the diets that harm people because they don't take it as recommended. Either way, the way that America is becoming with it's celebrities is like a real life Truman Show. Now excuse me, I'm going outside to play.

Writing is a window, an escape. It's the one thing that can take something apart, while simultaneously putting it together. It's a passion, an awakening, and something to keep motivation flowing.  View profile

  • Lindsay Lohan is one of the many celebrities that our nation's youth looks up to.
  • Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie paved the way for children to act the horrible ways that they do.
  • Lindsay recently got out of jail after serving a smaller sentence then she was originally provided.
Aside from Lindsay, Paris Hilton was very, very recently arrested for having cocaine on her person. This isn't the way our generation should be growing, this isn't how our nation should be growing.
