Lindsay Lohan: Are Celebrities More Popular Than God

What is God Thinking About Man Being More Popular Than Him

Malina Debrie
Are celebrities and anything about them more important to man than God? In II Timothy 3 : 2... Paul writes that in the last days, "Men shall be lovers of themselves more than lovers of God!"

Man must put God first before anything else. If God is not first, He will not occupy any other position in your heart, in your life or on earth.

Today, I read another article regarding Lindsay Lohan. I sat down at my computer and began to write an article about this one popular search topic because as a writer and writing for the Internet, we know it is all about money. Then I began to ask the Holy Spirit why is it that we as God's children aren't hungry for Him! Why is it the Internet is not bursting with people trying to find as much as they possibly can on Him. Why is man not hungry for God?

I began to wonder about celebrity popularity and the reason for any celebrity's popularity on the Internet. I clicked on Yahoo to see what the most popular searches were right now for today. If God was a search that had made the trends, It was not shown and I did not find it. There was nothing about God, Jesus, Psalms, the Holy Spirit. The top trends on Yahoo were Christina Applegate, Bob Uecker, Sandra Bullock, credit score, Ice-T, R136a1, BP Oil spill, Jennifer Anniston, Nicolae Ceausescu and Home Fitness Equipment.

I began to think, my hope is that people are reading and searching for information regarding the Lord God in their Bibles more than the Internet. Am I naive for praying that men are using their Bible and not the Internet for information regarding our Creator, our Savior and our God?

Then, to take it a little further, I decided to search for Jesus. My hope at that point was to see if maybe the term entered in the search is Jesus instead of God. Nothing there either.

My reason for this article is to say, it saddens me to see that 'God' or 'Jesus' is never showing up as the most popular search. If that is asking too much of mere man, then He should be at least in the top 10.

Our God, Lord and Savior requires that before anything, He is first. God does not allow us to give anything or anyone placement higher than Him. He requires first place in our hearts or he will not accept any other place. If man feels he can rearrange God and schedule Him when he wishes, he is so dreadfully wrong.

What does it mean when more searches are entered for Lindsay Lohan and others far more than for God? It means that God is not the center of your life. It means you have found more value in information regarding man than you have in seeking God.

Remember, God is a jealous God. Exodus 20:4-6 God instructs us in His acceptance of bowing down to anything other than Him. he will not accept our devotion to another. Our total devotion is first to Him. In Mathew 20:37, God tells us that "If you love your father or mother more than you love me, you are not worthy of being mine; if you love your son or daughter more than me, you are not worthy of being mine.

Everything here has been given to us by God to use and enjoy. However, we shall never forget Him and Him first.

I was thinking something similar about Mel Gibson. We have war, natural disaster, etc. as well as positive happenings, but his mess is getting tons of attention.

To me, it isn't worth covering a hot topic for $$ if you're not 100% comfortable. Your article will be one of many and you may not make much $$ anyway. I think its a lose-lose situation.

    Great work on this!

I'm a spiritual person, though I don't follow conventional religion. But it depresses me how people lap up news about celebrities who aren't great role models. It's probably even worse in the UK, as there's little feeling for higher ideals. I'd rather people believed in Jesus than troubled celebrities.

remember when John Lennon said he was more popular than Jesus Christ, well nothing much has changed.

Yes, it is sad that most people are searching for celebrity topics.

This is unfortunate. But you are doing a great job of talking about God and teaching others through your writing!

This is something I discovered a while back, Malina, when I wrote the article "Health, Wealth, and Christian Teachings: Why the World Doesn't Care". What you have written here merely confirms what I saw them. Where is the answer. It lies in mankinds love for sin. We live in a world that craves all that is wicked and wrong, and it spills over into the Christian live just as it is in all others. The truths that you have written are those of God. Though we must give every Christian room to grow, your words have shown that even we, as the lights of the world, are greatly failing in our duty. Let us never live under a legal rule stick, but somewhere along the line, true grace finds God in the center of all things. This is an excellent article, my Christian friend, well written and well presented. May it touch many lost souls, and may it press against many saved souls

I like to remember Noah and his family. Everyone else did exactly what they wanted to do but Noah and his family followed God. They were saved, the others were not. You cannot follow two masters. Malina, a very inspirational article. Great job.
