Lindsay Lohan Jail Drama with O.J. Style Black SUV

Shapiro Out, Holly Back on the Job

Lindsay Lohan apparently wanted to replay the O.J. Simpson drama with the black SUV driving down the highway. Lohan does not live too far from the Beverly Hills Courthouse but she was still 15 minutes late for her scheduled surrender for her 90 day jail sentence.

Two weeks ago, Lohan was sentenced to 90 days in jail, followed by 90 days in rehab. It was reported at that time that Lohan's attorney of record had been relieved from the case.

Lohan reportedly hired famed attorney, Robert Shapiro, in an effort to avoid jail time but that did not work out, either. Shapiro agreed to represent Lohan only if she agreed to serve her jail sentence. Lohan immediately put herself in a "Sober Living Environment" that many people have mistakenly called a "rehab" center. The "sober living" environment is meant as a place to go after rehab while adjusting to life without drugs and/or alcohol.

When Lohan finally showed up at the courthouse to be remanded to jail, it was made known that Shapiro was NOT Lohan's attorney. Ms. Holly, Lohan's original attorney has been reinstated and was handling the hearing in which Lohan was remanded at 8:46 Pacific Time on July 20, 2010.

Did Lohan misbehave at the "sober living environment"? Shapiro's son overdosed and died several years ago and that raises the question whether Lohan may have continued her unacceptable behavior which would have caused Shapiro to drop her when she wouldn't drop her bad habits. Only speculation...

Lohan was spared the humiliation of having cameras record her arrest, complete with handcuffs. The judge ordered all cameras turned off before Lindsay was handcuffed in an effort to stop the feeding frenzy by the media. Lohan was also order to report to her probation officer within 24 hours of her release from jail, instead of the 48 hours given at her sentencing, apparently giving her less time for temptation. It did not sound as if the judge trusted Lohan to show up on time...wonder what would give her that idea...

Lohan will not be living as luxuriously as she normally does, nor will she be allowed to have all the amenities that she is used to. She will have a private cell because of her fame but that is for her protection. She will be allowed a shower every other day, one hot meal a day (out of three) and spend 23 hours a day in her cell, with one hour per day for exercise.

Most people who took a HLN poll do not believe that jail time will straighten Lohan out but the majority who voted think Lohan should do jail time. It is the same old scenario...nobody wants to believe that a wealthy, out of control celebrity will clean up their act without major change.

It is possible for Lohan to put her life in order, but like anyone else who enjoys drugs and alcohol too much, she has to want her life to really mean something. Otherwise, she will always be what she is now...a train wreck.

Robert Downy, Jr. was in worse shape than Lohan. He did hard time for his hard life but has become what he always should have been with hit movies and a clean life. If he can do that with his life, Lohan can turn herself around.

The ball is in Lindsay's court now. If she can avoid the bad influences in her life (her mother being among the worst), maybe he can become all she was meant to be.

The drama isn't done yet...stay tuned...there is no doubt that the booking, including a full body search, will not go well.
