Lindsay Lohan Must Learn to Live Within Means in Wake of Latest Legal Woes

COMMENTARY | As Lindsay Lohan came to court wearing $1,200 high heels Thursday, her lawyer said the actress' health insurance coverage has expired and she can't afford counseling, reports Mail Online. She was also admonished for only completing 33 hours out of the 480 hours of community service she is required to serve.

Lohan's excuses are really running thin. You would think the actress would have come to realize by now that she is lucky she has not had to do serious jail time and get her act together. If the average person had as many run-ins with the law, I sincerely doubt they would be allowed to get away with as much as Lohan has.

Amidst the reprimands of the judge, Lohan also faces a lawsuit for allegedly attacking an employee at a Betty Ford Rehab Center near Palm Springs. In the $1 million civil lawsuit, Dawn Bradley claims Lohan yelled at her, threw a phone, and subsequently began grabbing and twisting her wrist when she tried to get the actress to take a breathalyser test.

Bradley claims in the lawsuit that she suffers from post-traumatic stress syndrome as a result of the incident, as well as significant injury to her wrist. There were no criminal charges pressed against Lohan in the case, as prosecutors in Riverside County did not feel there was sufficient evidence.

In light of the lawsuit and Lohan's allegedly dire financial situation, she may have to resort to other means of obtaining the money for her counseling if she doesn't get a film or television role pretty quickly.

Many of us who have been affected by the poor economy have a difficult time feeling sorry for Lindsay's lack of cash. I would like to suggest to the actress that she does what the rest of us do when we are having money troubles. Lohan could sell her Madame Butterfly shoes, along with some of her other high-dollar clothing and accessories. She could probably get top dollar for lots of items that are just sitting in the back of her closet. There are lots of ways to do this. Auctioning them off on eBay, advertising on Craigslist, or having an old fashioned yard sale are just a few options.

Six months ago, Lindsay purchased a condo near the Venice Beach Boardwalk in southern California. Her new digs come at a price of $7,100 a month. The deluxe condo has 3,100 square feet, with four bedrooms and three bathrooms. Okay, I know California is expensive, but I'm pretty sure Lohan doesn't need that much room for herself.

I'd say it's time to downsize, Lindsay. Do what the rest of us do and find a more affordable place to live if you can't pay for the counseling that you so obviously need.
