Lindsay Lohan Out of Rehab for the Second Time

Lindsay Lohan has checked out of rehab once again and after a six-week stint in the Malibu rehab center she will have to wear an alcohol-monitoring ankle bracelet. Lohan left Promises Malibu Alcohol and Drug Rehab Treatment Facility on Friday, according to a report on People magazine's Web site Sunday. The alcohol-monitoring bracelet measures vapors from her skin for traces of ethanol, which the body makes when digesting alcohol. The results are then sent to a computer modem for data collection. "She is voluntarily going to wear the device as part of her intensive outpatient program." says her publicist, Leslie Sloane Zelnik. She also stated "In part she is wearing the bracelet so there are no questions about her sobriety if she chooses to go dancing or dining in a place where alcohol is served." Her outpatient program includes going to Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, taking daily tests and receiving therapy. Lohan checked into the swank facility after a wild Memorial Day weekend during which she crashed her Mercedes Benz into a curb, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and was photographed slumped in the passenger seat of a friend's car. Just last Saturday, Lohan was reportedly seen partying at Pure Nightclub in Las Vegas with several friends.

The steps necessary to live a sober life are critical at this point in Lohans' life. At 21, she has far exceeded the typical party-girl image and turned it into something for some of our younger girls to look up too. While I definitely commend her for trying to get her self together, I can't help but wonder how many more times will she fall-off the wagon and do it again. She is still surrounded by the same people , she is still going out to the L.A clubs but she says she wont take a drink. I mean come on...lets be real here. Clearly its only a matter of time. The saddest part is that it takes up way too much of our "media" time. All these young women in Hollywood are being steered down the same road and their wake-up call is expected to come in the form of a 5-star rehabilitation retreat? The message being sent out is that if you party way too hard and become unmanageable you get a vacation from it all and can just come home and star in a blockbuster film like nothing ever happened. Oh and forget the millions of little girls that look up to you. Well just tell them you were sick but now you're getting help but you can still wear pretty clothes and win awards. The Paris Hiltons and Lindsay Lohans' of today push the limits with no regards as to who else is affected by their trifling ways.

Last words from her publicist just recently included "She's doing great," Zelnik said. "Lindsay is working hard on her sobriety and we are all supporting her."
