Lindsay Lohan to Play Sharon Tate in Manson Movie?

Is Lindsay on the comeback trail? Recent reports are that the troubled starlet has been offered the role of Sharon Tate in a movie titled Eyes of a Dreamer about the 1969 Manson murders. Tate, the then wife of movie director Roman Polanski, was pregnant at the time and was one of seven people slain by Charles Manson's his followers at his direction.

Hollywood Photographer/Director Tyler Shields is keen to shoot the movie during this year and is said to be concerned that Lohan's forthcoming court appearances could shatter his casting coup.

Shields is confident Lohan will sign on for the controversial role, telling EW.com, "We've worked together many, many times. She asked me about Eyes of a Dreamer... and I said, 'Oh you should be Sharon Tate.' And she was like, 'That would be amazing.'"

Will court proceedings prevent Lindsay from taking up this career option?

It remains to be seen whether Lindsay Lohan will have to decline this role. It is still not known whether she will be sentenced to serve prison time after allegedly violating probation by allegedly stealing a necklace from a Venice, California jewellery store.

The director hopes to begin filming in July, a week before Lindsay's next court date in the ongoing legal drama.

Shields says, "We have to shoot the movie this year, so I don't know. We'll have to cross that bridge when we come to it. Hopefully that's not the case."

A movie deal would help Lindsay get her life back on track

It is not impossible for Lindsay to conquer her demons and move forward with her life. She needs to take a leaf out of Robert Downey Junior's book. The drug addled actor not only served serious jail time for his misdemeanors, but went on to bigger and better things in his now outstanding movie career.

Lindsay has been through the proverbial wringer and it is time for her to re-group and get her career back on track. She also has to face up to whatever court punishment is dealt her. It would be sad if she misses the chance to play this interesting role. I can't think of any other actress who, with the right makeup, would look credible as Sharon Tate. It is obviously a dramatic role and could set Lindsay back on the path to credibility as an actress. It would allow her to put the past behind her and continue in her chosen field in adult character roles that would provide her with financial and emotional security.

Who is Tyler Shields anyway?

Sources reveal that Tyler Shields has had no formal training as a photographer. He uses many different styles and some of his shoots have been cloaked in controversy. In August 2009, he was arrested in Smarr, Georgia, during a photo shoot with Candice Accola, Sara Canning, Nina Dobrev, and Kayla Ewell, cast members of The Vampire Diaries. In 2010, he photographed actress Lindsay Lohan brandishing a gun in studio portraits. This earned him further notoriety. In the same year, at the release party for his book Collisions, Shields appeared to shoot a partygoer with a gun, as a piece of performance art.

In summer 2010, Shields became a co-founder and the photography editor of The Printed Blog, a print magazine comprised entirely of blogs and other online content. That was followed by a claim that he had set a world record by staying awake for 968 consecutive hours while being observed 24 hours a day by a team of friends acting as monitors. Guinness World Records officials said they would not recognize the claim because of the danger element of such a stunt and the difficultly in obtaining veracity.

Summary

Although a movie on this topic is not one I would like to see, I consider Lindsay Lohan would be amazing in the role of Sharon Tate. It now remains to be seen whether Lindsay is able to take up the role or whether she will be serving time for her misdemeanors and miss this opportunity.
