Lindsay Lohan in Rehab -- Fifth Time's the Charm?

Lindsay Lohan is in rehab at the Betty Ford Center, but according to Dina Lohan, as reported at Today, the center "has really changed her."

This is Lohan's fifth time in rehab. Judge Elden Fox ordered Lohan to remain in rehab until after the New Year rather than go to jail. "You are an addict and I hope you understand that," Judge Fox said. He warned her that if she fell off the wagon again, "You will become unemployable, uninsurable."

Dina Lohan finally acts like a responsible parent

Back in August of 2010, Dina Lohan appeared on Today with Matt Lauer and proved that she was an enabler with a capital E. She blamed everyone she could for Lindsay's condition, including Judge Marsha Revel, the California court system, Michael Lohan, TMZ and the general public. She refused to admit her daughter Lindsay is an addict.

Fast forward to today, with Lindsay Lohan in rehab. Dina talked to Matt Lauer again, but this time she's sounding more like a responsible parent. "The Betty Ford Center is just an amazing place," said Dina. "She's been in a couple of facilities, but this one, to me, has really changed her. They get into your psyche and the family and they bring the problem to the surface." Dina has also spent two weeks in family therapy at Betty Ford Center.

This time with Matt Lauer, Dina seemed less combative, because she finally admits Lindsay has a problem. Dina claims she wasn't in denial before, but was protecting Lindsay as her mother. She said when she talked to Lauer the first time, she was guarded due to what her attorneys told her she could say.

As reported at Addiction Info, "Family involvement is often critical for success in treating many substance abuse disorders--most obviously in cases where elements of the family are inadvertently reinforcing or supporting the problem." Dina Lohan's insistence that her daughter was fine, and that it was everybody else's fault, obviously wasn't helping Lindsay Lohan.

Lindsay Lohan mends broken fences

As Lindsay Lohan is in rehab, part of her road to recovery is sending apology letters to friends for her past behavior, in which Lindsay is actively doing. But what's even more surprising is she had a meet and greet with her estranged father, someone who she frequently dissed on Twitter.

According to Radar Online, "There were hugs, kisses and even a few tears when Michael and Lindsay first saw each other. They spent hours together; it was not a fleeting encounter, this appeared well-planned in advance."

Dina Lohan claims she doesn't read the gossip mags and knows nothing of the reunion, but supports it if that's what Lindsay wants.

Says Michael Lohan, "I have pledged not to comment about anything relating to my daughter. However, what I will say is that I am an incredibly proud father tonight. My daughter is progressing extraordinarily well."

Lindsay Lohan will remain at the center until January 3, spending Christmas and New Year's Day there.
