Lindsay Lohan Sentenced to 90 Days in Jail

Nicole Lang
Lindsay Lohan was sentenced today to 90 days in prison for violating her probation by not attending classes to assist in her rehab. During the sentencing Lohan broke down and asked for another chance. She claimed that she understood fully that this was not a joke. Was her sentence fair? Of course it was.

Lohan has repeatedly shown that she has not respect for the law. Continuously acting as though she does not have to answer to the law is the exact reason the 90 day sentence was not only fair but the only chance for any hope that Lohan will someday understand the ramifications for her actions.

Multiple arrests in her checkered past have clearly shown that Lohan needs help. She helps understanding that her choices are killing her and potentially someone else. After arrests for drinking while driving (2 counts) and arrests for being under the influence of cocaine, it is clear that Lohan is an addict.

She has already received an extension for not completing her classes. How many chances can one person be given? How many chances does a Hollywood actress get that others don't? Do people deserve second chances? Absolutely. However they must be willing to help themselves first.

Lohan needs this opportunity to think about the choices she is making and to understand that making a movie or playing up on her celebrity cannot get her out of every difficult situation.

If this was not a joke to her as she claimed then the being off in Italy and forgetting her passport and potentially not making court dates would not be the case. If it was not a joke, then she would not appear bored in her court appearances. The first sign of remorse or tears was when she was sentenced today. So it seems that the sentence was not only fair it was necessary for the greater good and for Lohan's own personal well-being.
