Lindsay Lohan's 'Inferno' Dream Dashed

Can She Pull a Robert Downey, Jr.?

Lindsay Lohan and 'Inferno' are no more. Director Matthew Wilder will replace Lindsay Lohan, who was chosen to play Linda Lovelace in the biopic, with another actress, as reported at E Online. Says Wilder, "Ultimately, the impossibility of insuring her-and some other issues-have made it impossible for us to go forward." According to E Online, the decision was a mutual one.

This is yet another career bust for Lohan. Judge Elden Fox told Lohan that she would become "unemployable, uninsurable" if she fell off the wagon again. However, with Lindsay Lohan out of 'Inferno,' the fallout has already started.

Matthew Wilder stuck by Lohan as long as he could even though many people wondered why. Wilder said he shared people's concerns. "I share it. But there is a tremendous gift underneath all the obvious baggage."

Unfortunately, the 24-year-old troubled actress has ruined that gift. Her last movie, 'Machete,' didn't harm her career, but it didn't help it either. Now with Lindsay Lohan out of 'Inferno,' the actress must hope that producers are willing to do what the producers of 'Inferno' would not.

Lindsay Lohan is currently in a sober living facility associated with Betty Ford and must remain until January 3, 2011, more than a month from now. If Lohan can stay committed to a full recovery she can show Hollywood that she's serious. She can still pull a Robert Downey, Jr., but she'll need lots of luck, in big part because the matter of insurance will be there.

Actor Robert Downey, Jr. got a comeback, after his nightmare of substance abuse, because Mel Gibson took a chance on him and paid his insurance bond for the 2003 movie "The Singing Detective" which was produced by Gibson. From there, Downey continued on and is now successful in films like his "Iron Man" series.

Robert has the talent and he had the determination to stay clean. Lindsay has the talent too. We will learn if she has the determination, as well.
