Lindsay Lohan's Obscene Nail Polish Message in Court Causes Uproar

Less than 24 hours after a Judge in a Beverly Hills court room sentenced actress Lindsay Lohan to 90 days in jail and 90 days at an in-patient rehab facility, which stemmed from a Probation Violation in a drunk-driving case, pictures of a message on her nails started circulating all over the Internet like a wildfire.

People Magazine, Entertainment Weekly and The Associated Press were the firs to publish up close pictures of Lohan as she wiped away tears while addressing the court with the words F**k U painted on each of her middle fingers with black nail polish.

Many people all over the world were left asking if the message was intended for the Judge in her case, the paparazzi, her estranged father Michael Lohan or people Lohan has called her haters.

The actress was seen sporting the colorful manicure during her court appearance on Tuesday. At the end of the hearing the Judge found Lohan had violated her probation and sentenced her to 90 days in jail. Before the sentence was handed down Lohan addressed the court, apologized for her behavior and said she never thought she would get special treatment because of who she was when reporting to her alcohol rehab classes.

Lindsay Lohan and her representatives released a statement Wednesday morning that said the whole incident had been blown out of proportions and the message was a big joke. Lohan also took directly to her Twitter account on Wednesday to tell her supporters and the press, "It had nothing to do w/court. It's an airbrush design from a stencil."

Many television and online entertainment shows and blogs asked who the message was directed to, and called into question whether her tears and emotional speech was really sincere. Lohan insisted she wanted the message painted on for herself and not for anyone in particular.

Many experts have called the 90 day jail sentence harsh saying they think the Judge is using Lindsay Lohan as an example for a charge that would normally carry a 2 week sentence.

Lindsay made her middle fingers clearly visible while addressing the court, even though the lettering was so tiny pictures had to be blown up to actually see it.

Written expressions on Lindsay's hands or nails is nothing new. The star has a small red star tattooed on one hand and the word, "Shhh..." on her right index finger.

Celebrity manicurist Jenna Hipp told US Magazine that having words, names, letters or other meaningful thoughts painted on fingernails is a new trend that the younger pre-teen and tween crowd is starting to pick up. She said she even painted a message on actress Gadourey Sidibe's nails before the Oscars.

She also said you can recreate the Lindsay Lohan Nails without spending a ton of money at the nail salon. The Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen topped with a coat of clear nail polish will do the trick with any message or image you want.
