Lindsay Lohan's Positive Drug Test and Return to Jail Could Be What She Needs

No One is Surprised Her Drug Test Came Up Positive

With Lindsay Lohan testing positive on her recent court-ordered drug tests, no one is surprised the actress faces a return to a California jail for a 30 day minimum sentence for violating her probation. But, while this isn't a surprise based on her attitude and nightly partying since being released from rehab and jail, the required return to jail could be a good thing for the actress.

TMZ and US Weekly is reporting Lindsay Lohan tweeted to her fans she had taken full responsibility for the positive tests and was prepared to face Judge Fox and accept her punishment for her actions. Lindsay tested positive for cocaine on the two tests she has taken since being released from a rehab center earlier this month.

Hours after news broke through TMZ that Lindsay's latest drug test came up positive for cocaine she tweeted, "Regrettably, I did in fact fail my most recent drug test and if I am asked, I am prepared to appear before judge Fox next week as a result." She went on to say, "Substance abuse is a disease, which unfortunately doesn't go away over night. I am working hard to overcome it and am taking positive steps forward every day. I am testing every single day and doing what I must do to prevent any mishaps in the future. ... This was certainly a setback for me but I am taking responsibility for my actions and I'm prepared to face the consequences."

But the test results are a slap in the face of the rehab experts at UCLA who wrote in a letter to Judge Fox Lindsay wasn't a drug addict and wouldn't relapse if released from their care to return to her family, friends and old lifestyle. Insiders close to Lindsay say it was those friends and old lifestyle that brought about her downfall after her release, and that the star couldn't wait to pick up where she left off.

For a woman who called herself a 'damn good actress' in an interview last month she hasn't really attempted to get her life together and prove herself to fans and critics. But the truth of the matter is Lohan is a classic example of a drug addict. She refuses to acknowledge she has a problem and the people around her, including her own mother Dina Lohan, continue to believe Lindsay is alright, when in reality she is very sick and needs long term treatment help.

This may not help Lindsay after a story surfaced shortly after her release that she hit a woman and baby stroller in a crosswalk while driving her Maserati. The incident was witnessed by Paparazzi in Beverly Hills and the woman seemed unfazed after the incident. Lindsay reportedly pulled over, waited a few moments and drove away.

Lindsay also planned to tell her side of her drug and alcohol addiction story on Oprah Winfrey's talk show sometime this fall. While producers had not worked out all the details to get Lilo on the show, this latest setback could either derail those talks to get her on the Oprah show, or may push the talk show queen to step in and talk to Lindsay in an effort to help her.

This may also be exactly what Lindsay Lohan needs to get the help she really needs. The Judge in her case may finally see that she needs professional help and she isn't to be trusted with putting her life together on her own. Lindsay will also hopefully find in jail that if she continues to hang out with the people who enable her she will continue to go back to jail over and over again.

But actually getting better is up to Lindsay Lohan alone, and only time will tell if the actress can actually get better, or end up another tragic Hollywood story.

I hope they put her back in rehab from what I saw she left jail after 14 days and went to rehab and was there less than 3 weeks not enough for someone to get over the mental and physical addiction to drugs like she has taken.
