Lindsay You Rock!!

Since writing about Dina Lohan's Mom of the Year award, this writer has taken a deeper look at the Lohan family. After viewing the process of launching Ali's music and film career on Living Lohan and seeing Lindsay rise from her rehab stints and continue to work as a talented actress (she's currently has a recurring role on ABC's hit Ugly Betty as a former high school rival of Betty played by America Fererra) it looks like Dina not only has her hands full managing her daughters careers but she's on her game as a mover and shaker to keep their stars shining; despite the mishap with the director from the Troll remake. The one who's not on top is dear old dad.

When it comes to Michael Lohan, father doesn't know best. You would think he'd be happy about his daughters' achievements but instead he spits venom not only on his ex-wife but Lindsay's close friend, popular Hollywood DJ Samantha Ronson. He tells E! that Sam is using Lindsay. "People never even knew who Samantha Ronson was until she met Lindsay. And now she's writing a book? She was just some L.A. DJ.", he says. It seems that Michael heard a rumor about Ronson possibly writing a tell-all book, so it's safe to say that he's making accusations before looking more into the rumor. Michael Lohan, in this writer's opinion, is an unhappy man whose life is a bit topsy turvy with losing his father in August and the strong possibility of being the father of a child stemming from an affair he had while still married to Lindsay's mother Dina.

What's intriguing is that almost everytime Lindsay gets close to someone Michael says they're using her. Have you noticed the pattern? Everyone's out to get Lindsay; to milk her for whatever according to him. This is coming from someone who has had more than one stint in jail. Michael appears to have been an absentee father as of late. All he's been known for are his constant complaints and accusation towards Dina. The only way Michael can draw attention to himself is to go running to the press and slam his family, namely Lindsay at the moment.

In case you missed it, Access Hollywood reported that on The Billy Bush Show, the Lohan patriarch called Ronson a "parasite" and said "The relationship Lindsay has with Samantha is toxic," and feels tat she's being taken advantage of by Ronson.

Lindsay, the eldest of his children with Dina, fired back on her MySpace blog also in August calling her father a "public embarrassment" having tried to unsuccessfully reconcile with her father, she now realizes that those around her were right, that as she would put it "has yet to change."

Michael hit back with a statement to OK! Magazine, stating it was Dina who generated his concerns about Samantha. He went on to call the Living Lohan star a "money-loving, fame-seeking, self-serving deceiver." Well, isn't that the pot calling to kettle black. It's obvious that Dina has put her children's dreams before her own; it's evident on the hit E! reality show that also stars their 14 year-old Ali, an aspiring singer/actress and Ford model like her big sis; their youngest Cody is also featured on the show. If he had it his way, Michael's children wouldn't be as successful as they are now.

It needs to be understood that it wasn't until Lindsay was of age that she began to party a little too hard; who hasn't at her age? She just happens to be someone whose life is under the lens practically 24/7. Also, if anything, Samantha Ronson is possibly the best thing to happen to Lindsay. Ever since we've been introduced to Sam, Lindsay's life has been on a more positive track. You hardly see or read any bad press about her. The media however seem to be so into the private aspect of her life. Now that she's opened up to everyone about the relationship she has with Sam, which by the way is her business, people are hungry for more. Samantha has given her happiness and security as a friend and girlfriend. Isn't it amazing how the Labor Pains star has turned her life around for the better and having Sam there is an added bonus? Michael should be happy for her daughter instead of bashing her for living her life. She's a grown woman and he needs to let go but we all know he can't.

You may remember CNN's Anderson Cooper appearing on Live with Regis and Kelly and he was expressing his views on Living Lohan basically saying that Ali shouldn't be displayed on the tube like the daughter of a mother who's pushing her to be a star. While Dina had her words for Cooper, it was Michael's response that seemed to be a bit surprising. He tells Access Hollywood, "I think Anderson Cooper is an opinionated, hypocritical idiot who should be an adult and keep his opinion to himself...he is the last person to judge anyone, when he and his own family have their own issues." Now isn't that what he just did to Anderson? How can he with full confidence say that and yet expressed his own opinion? Michael is a hypocrite himself to fix his mouth to say that about Anderson.

It's like the more he opens his mouth the more Michael makes himself look like the joke that will never get old. He should put more of an effort to being a better father for his children instead of using them as pawns in the war of words with his ex-wife. Dina has more of a right to respond to bashing remarks regarding her kids than Michael does. He needs to understand that Lindsay is an adult now and is responsible for what happens in her life. Whether he wants to admit it or not, what Dina said back in May, 2 months before her 22^nd birthday, about Lindsay's past mistakes is true, "She's 21 years old. It's not a blame game. It's not my fault or her friends' fault. It's the personal choices you make. And you have to be careful about what you do when you're in the public eye."

There is a point and time in every person's life where the parent can no longer be the blame. We all have to own up to our mistakes whether we're in the public eye or not. It's just that the ones in the public eye have it a bit more difficult than the rest of us. Lindsay has learned from hers and thanks to Samantha Ronson her life has taken a turn for the better.
