Linkin Park Heading to Joe Louis Arena

Californian rock band Linkin Park are bringing their A Thousand Suns World Tour to Detroit's Joe Louis Arena on Tuesday, January 25.

The band released A Thousand Suns, their fourth studio album, back in September.

The album was a different direction for the band dealing with the concept of nuclear warfare and featuring a sound that has been described as a psychedelic journey that explores the conflict between technology and humanity.

A Thousand Suns debuted on top of the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart and first single "The Catalyst" debuted at #1 on the Billboard Rock Songs chart.

The A Thousand Suns World Tour is Linkin Park's first U.S. tour since 2008 and they recently completed a highly-acclaimed, sold-out tour of Europe which garnered rave reviews.

The tour begins January 20 in Sunrise, Florida and ends in Denver on February 26.

Linkin Park's live show is a celebration of sound and vision - a transformative multi-media experience that befits the power of the music.

The tour's set list combines the biggest hits of the band's career, as well as material from the new album.

Lead vocalist Chester Bennington says, "The new songs work really well alongside the older stuff. Plus, there's a strong, powerful message to A Thousand Suns, and we've transferred that into the show. Our aim was that we're not just putting on a live performance, but something that's visually spectacular as well."

As a special "thank you" to concert goers, included as a bonus with the purchase of every ticket, fans will be able to download a live recording of the show they attended by texting a code from their mobile phones that will be displayed at the venue.

Additionally, one dollar for each ticket purchased will go to Music For Relief, a charity founded by Linkin Park to provide relief to victims of natural disasters and to bring awareness to solutions to the global warming challenge.

Joining Linkin Park on tour will be Pendulum and Does It Offend You, Yeah? thru February 11 and then from February 15 through February 26 UK legends The Prodigy will be opening.

The band's show at Joe Louis Arena will begin at 7 p.m..

Tickets are on sale at OlympiaEntertainment.com, the Fox Theatre and Joe Louis Arena box offices, Hockeytown Authentics in Troy (without service charge) and at all Ticketmaster locations.
