It was less than $60 and seemed to have more than enough features for our simple home network of computers. Not only can it send and receive WiFi Internet signal to multiple laptop computers in the house but it also can connect four other computers via Ethernet cables.
We found its simple to set up for our home network, my desktop PC connected and recognized it quickly, and I was able to set up a secure encrypted WiFi connection with help from the free technical phone support and the included Easylink Advisor software that came with the router.
The tech support by phone was very friendly and I didn't have to wait very long for help, the only problem I encountered was the technical advisor had a thick Indian accent so I had to have her repeat herself several times to clarify some instructions.
Once set up the Wireless-G Router was fantastic its WiFi signal reached every corner of our town house apartment and then some. I can connect upstairs, downstairs, and even on my outdoor patio if needed, the routers built in firewall, MAC address filtering, and WPA2 security help keep my neighbors in the surrounding apartments from connecting to my Internet signal and network.
Overall if you're new to setting up a home network or on a tight budget I would highly recommend the Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router for all your WiFi and home networking needs

Post a Commentthere is a couple of ways to set up the router to block outsiders from using your internet connection. The most user freindly way is to install the software disc that came with the Linksys Router, it will give you the option to set the router to a encrypted connection that is password protected. You can also call the toll free customer service hotline and they can walk you through the steps over the phone, but you may have to wait on hold depending on the time of day you call, and they seem to outsource their customer service to a company in india so be patient in understanding the persons accent.
