Many complain that Linux is just too hard to use. While there are reasons in the past that this might be stated, today it's very simple to use just like any other modern day operating system. Once someone boots up the system it's icons and menus like anything else. Most people understand that launching a program requires a click on an icon. This is not difficult at all. Setting up things like extra monitors, printers, or other external hardware is now so easy that most don't have issues with it anymore.
Many who tried Linux even a few years ago didn't like having to use a terminal. It is a good argument that the average person would not want to use a terminal to use their computer. While this is a valid argument, the modern day Linux systems don't require a terminal to use anymore. You can use an operating system like Ubuntu and do everything with the build in programs without ever touching the terminal.
A few years ago people did not like the Linux alternatives to popular Microsoft programs. These open source ones were seen as secondary and not as good. In the past few years open source programs have become so good that many Windows users are even using them. If you switch to Linux, there are many great open source programs that you might already be using on your Windows system right now. This makes the transition very easy since it's the same applications.
