Lionel Richie Just Go Early Album Review

Does the Legendary Lionel Richie Deliver on His Latest Album?

The Reviewer
Lionel Richie is a true legendary artist. He has sold well over a 100 million records and is one of the most prolific songwriters of our time. Unlike other legendary artists, Lionel remains relevant today. His last album Coming Home featured the hit single I Call It Love and now Lionel is back with his newest album Just Go. Will Just Go live up to Lionel's legendary legacy?

The first single off of Just Go is Good Morning. The opening piano rift on Good Morning sounds vaguely similar to Justin Timberlake's I Think She Knows. The track however is a mild ballad except the chorus which works well.

The second single is the title track Just Go featuring Akon. The track sounds like mid 1980's Lionel Richie re-interpreted to today. The song works fairly well however it is not one of the better tracks on the album.

I'm In Love is a solid mid-tempo track produced by StarGate and written by Ne-Yo. The song works well and is vein with Lionel's last album Coming Home. The chorus on the song is the strong point of the track.

Akon is also featured on Nothing Left To Give. This effort between the pair is better than the second single. The track works much better and has a nice flow to it.

Forever is another StarGate produced and Ne-Yo written track. The song features a strong melody and songs vaguely similar to Lionel's last hit single I Call It Love. The song works extremely well and is one of the standout tracks on the album.

I'm Not Okay is Lionel's collaboration with The-Dream and Christopher "Tricky" Stewart. The track works fairly well yet might be a touch too modern and contemporary for Lionel to successfully deliver.

The StarGate produced Through My Eyes is another mid-tempo track. The song would have sounded better delivered by a younger artist.

Think Of You is a ballad produced once again by StarGate. The track works well yet again as besides Lionel, the star of the album is definitely the production duo StarGate.

Forever And A Day is another collaboration between Lionel, The-Dream and Christopher "Tricky" Stewart. The song is catchy and interesting.

Pastime is one of the better Lionel and StarGate collaborations on the album. The song works extremely well and the song is catchy and peppy.

Just Go is a nice mix of mid-tempos, ballads and up-tempo tracks. The album works well and features enough modern elements to even appeal to a younger fan base. Overall Just Go gets 7.5 out of 10. If you are a fan of Lionel Richie make sure you pick up Just Go when it is available in stores on May 19th.
