Physical Preparations
Patients must be physically fit in order to reduce the risk of having post operation complications. Taking up a regular exercise routine and quitting unhealthy vices like smoking should be done at least two months before the operation. Avoiding Anticoagulants must be done at around two weeks before the operation. If the patient decides to request the use of general anaesthesia for the procedure then fasting should commence at around midnight the night before the operation. If the patient chose to use local anaesthesia for the operation then fasting would not be required.

The important thing is that the patient is aware of the fact that the choices to be made from that point on will definitely impact their lives. There are many ways to emotionally and psychologically prepare for operations like liposuction. To start things off, choosing a seasoned and board certified surgeon would really help in giving the patient some ease of mind. The patient must never hesitate to ask about details surrounding the procedure especially the parts about the risks and the ways to avoid them. After that it would be best for the patient to reflect on the reasons for getting the liposuction in first place. If the patient feels that they truly deserve the benefits to be attained from the procedure then that should prove to be enough to conquer their own doubts and fears. And last but not the least, the support of the patient's family has always been a tried and tested remedy for cold feet.
