Lipstick 101: How to Get the Perfect Burgundy Lips

I love to wear rich, dark, sultry burgundy lipstick. Along with deep smoky gray eyes this look gives off a sensationally sexy appearance. This rich burgundy look has already hit the fashion runway this year. Just about any woman with any type of skin color can where this color, if it is applied right.

There are three steps to applying lip-liner with lipstick. I personally do not ware lip-liner, but if you do desire lip-liner then I suggest that you pick out a color that is only two shades darker than the inside of your bottom lip. You will want to resist the really dark browns and keep the lip-liner a neutral color that will be easy to work with.

Step one; apply the lip-liner to the outer edge of your lips using smooth even strokes, while trying not to over apply the lip out line beyond your natural lip shape. You will also want to make sure you do not want to apply the liner too dark, because the burgundy lipstick will add color as well.

Step two; application of the lipstick should be done with a lip brush, especially when you are working with deep dark colors. Start applying the burgundy lipstick from the center of your lips, right where they come together. This area is where you want the deepest color. Using smooth even strokes from the center towards the outer edge, fading as you go, blot lips together once or twice to ensure a smooth and even distribution of the lipstick.

Step three; this last step is what will give your lips that sultry and wet look that drives men crazy! After you have applied the liner and lipstick to desired color, let dry for a minute then apply a clear plumping gloss for your finished look. If a deeper color is desired, before you apply the gloss, add more burgundy color until you reach the desired color and then finish with the gloss.

There are a few name brands that carry burgundy colored lipstick. Some of these brands also carry burgundy colored lip-gloss, but they do not last all day and need to be re-applied throughout the day. Cover Girl continuous color has a couple of great looking burgundy lipsticks. Bistro Burgundy # 430 is a wonderful lipstick that lasts all day. Cover Girls Bistro Burgundy has a smooth and creamy feel to it and there is no need to ware lip-liner with this color, as it looks great by itself. Cover Girl also carries a burgundy lipstick that has a slight metallic look to it that is great for a night out on the town; called Cherry Brandi # 435. All of Cover Girls lipsticks have a moisture rich formula that is enhanced with vitamin A and E for long lasting color. These lipsticks from Cover Girl coast 5.99, which is a reasonable price considering some brands out there charge up to 16.00 for a tube of lipstick.

Revlon color stay lip color is another great product and comes at a reasonable price of 6.99. This color stay lip color will not come off onto your glass or him; Revlon also helps keep your lips smooth and kissable all day and night long. The perfect color for burgundy lips is Revlon's # 25 Burgundy; this color will give your lips that intense, sensual and totally kissable mouth. Revlon also has a sheer burgundy color, # 080 burgundy; this color is great for nighttime entertainment. This sheer burgundy gives your lips that shiny, plump, sultry look; but needs to be re-applied throughout the evening. Both Revlon color stay and Cover Girls continuous color lipsticks are worth their price, you cannot find a better lipstick at such a reasonable price. Remember ladies, that this is the fall and winter seasons and burgundy lips are what is in this year, so go out a purchase one of the lipsticks that I have mentioned above and enjoy your new luscious lips!
