Lipstick Alternatives to Pricey Brands

Drugstore Lipstick Doppelgangers to High Ends

Alexis Valentine
This one is for the frugalista in all of us girls. There's no shame in wanting to save money, especially considering the economy right now. Many people are living on a very tight budget, but that doesn't mean you have to give up your sense of fashion and style. I've learned to adapt with my current financial situation by finding more affordable alternatives to some of my favorite but more costly beauty and makeup products. I don't generally wear much makeup on a daily basis, but I am a fan of lip products and mascaras. Over the past few months I've been testing out and researching many drugstore lipsticks to see which ones are a near, if not identical, color match to some popular high end brands. I've broken them up into four color families, five for each.

The following lipsticks aren't dupes of quality but of color, for those who are looking for their favorite shade of high end lipsticks in a more affordable brand. The high ends one will be on the left, and drugstore brands on the right. Pricing will vary, but in terms of high end the lipsticks start on average around $20 and goes up from there. For drugstore brands and the likes, these on average range between $3 to $10.

The twenty pairs of lipsticks listed are just a handful of suggestions. If you don't see one of your favorites listed I would suggest going to a Sephora or ULTA store and trying out the products, perhaps even asking the sales clerk for suggestions. Beauty doesn't have to mean shelling out ridiculous amounts of money, but every once in a while it's nice to splurge and treat yourself.
