Lipstick on a Pig Hype

The statement "Lipstick on a Pig" is drawing popular attention by the Republicans and the media. Democratic presidential candidate Obama, is being slammed by media and McCain over his use of the "Lipstick on a pig" comment. It seemed to have outraged some, asking the question which seems to me is, How could he do such a thing as to call Palin a pig. It was not meant as an insult to her I'm sure. McCain himself used the same phrase in 2007 against Hilary about her health care plan, yet McCain was never accused of being sexist, or picking on Hilary. I have a link to a partial video interview in which he uses the same phrase it can be viewed at www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMPYkNQIJMM . Yes, I know you tube is pretty much for entertainment, but I did a google search and there is allot of them up there. So, it does raise the question to me, why is it OK for McCain to use it with Hilary and when Obama says that phrase, it gets tossed as a direct hit to Palin? Is she too frail? Hilary did not get her feathers in a ruffle. Remember the phrase what is good for the goose is good for the gander? Not so with the Republicans. Another news article on the web states McCain and other Republicans using that same phrase can be found at www.msnbc.com/id/26633775.

I am not one to follow all the campaigning debates and interviews, or what I will call the smack down of two grown people taking pop shots at each other in order to sway your vote. The thing is, everyone seems to thrive on the silly comments, and then those silly comments get blown out of proportion. It does get tiresome listening to it after a while. We get to choose who we would like to have as our next President of the United States of America, wouldn't be nice if we as the people had the ability to choose the Vice President running mate, not the Presidential candidate. Who would you of picked for the Vice Presidential position of either side? Someone with more experience? Someone you knew of other then seeing up by the podium standing next to the candidate for the Presidential position? Someone with a strong background in economics, foreign policy, and government? Maybe because I do not keep up with all the campaign hype, I did not ever hear of Palin or Biden until they were announced by the two Presidential Candidates. I can not say I would of picked either of them, or that my choice would of made it to the ballot.

It would be nice for the Presidential candidates to once run a straight to the point campaign and stop the ring fighting. My vote is not going to be determined by someone making a comment and another persons feelings getting hurt. It seems to be if your in the spotlight your dirty laundry is going to be exposed, just deal. I surely do not know if I would want anyone in office who has the need to have someone else stand up for them like a husband would towards a bully who hurt his wife's feelings. I'm quite sure the positions are going to be very stressful, as every President seems to age faster then the average American as our nation depends on them. I think someone needs to be in office with a strong backbone who does not whimper at sticks and stones. What would happen if there was a 9/11? All I know is I want someone who we can rely on who is solid, experienced and not frail.

I do not have government or economic background, never claim to be a expert on politics as well. I am just a person who is growing tired of hearing everyone say "Snap! Oh no, he or she didn't". When the time comes for you to pick our next President, decide wisely for this election, as the next four years could be harder then now, or better. No one really knows, but listen to campaign details and not the mud slinging that is ridiculously blown out of proportion by the media. At this point I will admit I am not blown away by either Vice Presidential candidates. I know I probably will anger some Palin supporters by saying I feel she is not experienced enough, and her interviews just are repeats of hearing McCain speeches. Everyone has their own view point on political issues and I am just expressing how I feel.
