Lipton Green Tea Blends

Today it is near impossible for you not to know that flavoniod antioxidants are good for you, and one of the easiest ways to get them is by drinking green tea. Green tea naturally contains those protective antioxidants that help your body fight against free radical cells, but the sometimes-bitter flavor is not everyone's cup of tea, pun intended. The bitterness can get worse when the tea bag if left seeping to long. Some people try and mask the bitterness by adding milk, sugar or honey, however if you are like me and drink more than six cups of tea in one day, adding stuff like sugar would give me too many extra calories and all that junk, so it is not really an option. I do not even put sugar in my coffee, and do not want to put it in my tea.

One day while I was at my mother-in-law's house, she offered me some tea. Now, she is a health nut and does that natural healing stuff so I knew it would be green tea, but this was the best green tea I had ever had. I asked her what brand it was, I had expected it to be from the health food store or one of her mail-order catalogs but it was Lipton brand tea. Lipton Green Tea with Orange, Passion fruit and Jasmine, It had a nice mellow fruit flavor and all the good flavors of the green tea without the bitterness. I was instantly addicted, and had to get my own box. When I went to the grocery store, I was delighted to find that Lipton had other flavors that sounded as tasty as the one I had already tried. I bought a sample box that has a few of each flavor; flavors in sample box are Honey, Lemon Ginseng, Mixed Berry, Mint, Cranberry Pomegranate and Orange, Passion Fruit & Jasmine.

I will start with the Lemon Ginseng, because I do not like it. Its listed ingredients are green tea, natural lemon flavor, panax ginseng, and lemon grass. I think it is the ginseng that messes this one up; you have to like the flavor of ginseng. Yuk, Yuk, Yuk, is all I can say.

The other one I did not like is the Mint, but I have never really liked mint anyways. However, my boyfriend (who likes mint) said it was good and did not need any sugar or anything like that.

Ingredients: green tea, spearmint leaves, peppermint leaves, and lemon grass. Not very many ingredients but it packs a lot of flavor/

The Honey was good; I could see it begin 'the tea' for when you are sick. The chamomile really helps you relax while the honey sooths your throat. Ingredients: green tea, orange peel, chamomile, lemon grass, licorice root, roasted chicory root, and natural honey flavor.

MMM, The Mixed Berry... This one is the bomb. I love it. It tastes like fruit juice; I cannot say any more about how good is it without rambling. Its ingredients are green tea, natural cherry, raspberry, blueberry, and strawberry flavors, does that sound good or what.

Last but certainly not least, is the Cranberry Pomegranate (a new flavor). I am not much of cranberry lover but I liked this tea. Cranberries and pomegranate go really good together, they create a flavor that delights your taste buds. Ingredients: (of course) green tea, hibiscus flowers, chamomile flowers, cinnamon, citric acid (for tartness), licorice root, lemon grass, and roasted chicory root.

Every one if these teas have at least 60mg of antioxidants per serving, and a serving is one tea bag. Next, I want to try the new Lipton Pyramid teas, and see if the new pyramid shaped bag really makes a more flavorful tea during the seeping process.
