Liquid Hand Soaps: Which One is Best?

Angelie MacKenzie
Finding a decent hand soap can be a bit difficult. And I'm sure I'm not the only one who has had this problem. I used to simply keep a bar of soap in a dish by the bathroom sink for washing my hands. But, this isn't practical for using several times a time. After many uses, a bar of soap doesn't dry and return to its original state. So, I usually end up throwing away the bar of soap long before it is completely used up, which is wasteful. I find it is better to use a liquid hand soap. But there are so many choices, which one is best? As I've stated in other reviews, I have sensitive skin. Some soap will make my hands so dry that I feel like I need lotion after washing my hands.

So, I began looking for a liquid hand soap. I tried the Dial Complete Foaming hand soap. It comes in many different scents, all of which smell really nice. However, you aren't supposed to use these antibacterial germ killing soaps all the time because they supposedly create "super germs." And besides, if used all the time, this liquid soap will make my hands dry.

I've tried the Softsoap line of liquid hand soap. These come in many different scents that smell good as well. They also come in different types: moisturizing, antibacterial, kitchen, decor, and kids foaming soap. However, Softsoap comes in a small container, which isn't very practical if you wash your hands a lot. But maybe it comes in a bigger one and I just haven't noticed?

Dove came out with a liquid moisturizing hand soap a while back. I received a sample of it in the mail and tried it. I really liked it because it didn't make my hands feel dry. But my hands don't feel as clean after using this as they do after using some of the other choices. It's the most gentle hand soap that I've found so far.

I've come to realize that more than one type of hand soap should be available. If my hands are greasy from something like having eaten barbequed ribs, I need something stronger than liquid soap. I keep a bar of Irish Spring soap near the bathroom sink for just such an occasion. But overall, I recommend the Dove hand soap. It's truly the best on the market.
