When I got to the store, I was faced with a decision between two products: Drano or Liquid Plumr. Both products basically just consist of chemicals that you pour down the clogged or slow drain, and these chemicals are supposed to clean the pipes and clear up the drain problems. Liquid Plumr and Drano were both priced similarly, with Liquid Plumr being about 10 cents cheaper than Drano. Since both drain cleaners were under 4 dollars, price is unlikely to be a deciding factor for most users. One thing that did catch my eye however was the fact that Liquid Plumr had a sticker indicating the company would refund your money if it didn't unclog your drain. Since I wasn't sure it would work, that was a big selling point for me, and I purchased a bottle of Liquid Plumr and drove home to tackle my slow drain.
When I got home and poured the Liquid Plumr down my slow drain, it unfortunately did not solve the problem. However, I don't think Drano would have worked either, and the nature of my drain problem was something that required more than a liquid drain cleaner. Thankfully, Liquid Plumr had their "Plumr Pledge" program that offered to refund my money since it did not unclog my drain. All I had to do was go to http://www.liquidplumr.com/ and click on the button at the bottom of their front page to download the rebate form. I mailed in a completed copy of the rebate form, along with my original cash register receipt (with the Liquid Plumr price circled).
After a few weeks, I was able to log onto the Liquid Plumr website noted at the bottom of the rebate form to track my rebate request. A check for $3.79 has been mailed to me and I should be expecting it soon. If you have a clogged drain, and you aren't absolutely sure that a liquid drain cleaner will solve your problem, I would definitely recommend choosing a bottle of Liquid Plumr over Drano. Both products are made from the same ingredients and are likely to be equally as effective, but if it doesn't work, the Plumr Pledge program will refund your money.
