Lisa Marie Presley Discusses Michael Jackson with Oprah Winfrey

Lisa Marie Presley spent time with Oprah Winfrey. She said that after a year and a half it was time she opened up about Michael Jackson. Lisa Marie said she was ready to talk about her personal life. She has an album coming out in the future and she didn't want to promote the album and have to answer questions about Michael Jackson. She wanted to keep the two subjects separate.

Lisa Marie was in England when the news came that Michael Jackson had died. She received text messages from friends asking her if she was ok and she wasn't sure what they were talking about. She finally learned that Michael was dead.

Oprah asked her if she knew or had an idea that Michael was doing drugs during their marriage. She said didn't realize until close to the time they divorced. She said he collapsed once and wound up in the hospital. She then 'thought' something was going on with drugs.

Lisa Marie said that their marriage was in every sense a regular marriage. They discussed everything. She said he always had a hard time sleeping. She said she enjoyed taking care of him. She hated having attention put on her, but loved being with him.

She said she understands him now better than she ever did. She was angry that Michael pushed her out. He chose drugs and 'vampires' over her. Michael wasn't a bad person, he didn't know better according to Lisa Marie. She compared Michael to her father, Elvis Presley. She called it people living in an ivory tower thinking they are "God".

She compared the lives and the deaths of Elvis and Michael and how similar they were. She couldn't believe she had to go through the same thing twice. The house where MJ died is directly across the street form a home that Elvis owned many years ago.

She said she fell in love with Michael Jackson because of who he was. He was himself and allowed her in. She described it as intoxicating. She said he was like a drug for her. She told Oprah that they were totally in love with each other.

Lisa Marie said she squeezed Michael's hand so hard at the 'famous' MTV show, that his hand turned blue. I'm sure you remember that show and big kiss! She disliked the attention, but knew as Michael's wife she had to make appearances.

MJ wanted Lisa to have a baby and he kept pressure on her to have a child. She hesitated because she knew it would be difficult. Lisa found out she was disposable when he found someone else to have his child.

Lisa said she and Michael hit rough waters and had three-day arguments during their marriage, but Michael tried to make the marriage work. She said she didn't appreciate it back then, but she does now. We all know hind sight is 20/20.

Lisa Marie said she finally realizes that Michael did truly love her. It took his death to let that happen. She said she still loved him even four years after they divorced and she flew all over the world to be with him.

Lisa Marie said she never saw any inappropriate action between Michael and young children. She does not believe any of the charges against Michael are/were true.

Oprah asked if when Lisa Marie stood over his casket if she was able to make peace with his death, the answer was no. She felt guilty that she had not stuck with him or did more to help him.

This the only interview that Lisa Marie will hold concerning Michael Jackson. She made that very clear.

Lisa Marie still plays with her hair while she talks and other than more eye make- up than I've seen since the 60's, she looked nice. She talked clearly and made sense, which wasn't always the case with her in previous interviews. Perhaps she has grown considerably after the birth of her twins and then the death of Michael Jackson. Perhaps she is happy with all that she has instead of wondering about all that she lost. Perhaps she has finally put the pieces of the puzzle together.
