Lisa-Marie and Michael Having Baby - Not the Only Over-40 Expecting Stars

Lisa-Marie Presley, wife of Michael Lockwood is pregnant with her fourth child at 40 years old. Nichole Kidman wife of Country singer Keith Urban as well as Marcia Cross also shared the 40-and-over parent spotlight in the past 13 months.

Lisa Maria's pregnancy experience so far appears to be bittersweet-at least with the press. According to Starpulse.com (from People.com), Lisa Marie's publicist stated that "The couple [is] incredibly overjoyed" about becoming pregnant.

However, one the same day that Presley's baby bump news went public, Lisa-Marie had an ugly confrontation with the tabloid press, likening them to a "pack of coyotes".

Lisa-Marie showed signs of great relief and great annoyance as she stated, "They just couldn't wait to find out if my weight gain was because I was just overeating...less interesting for them and probably much to their dismay, I could just be pregnant...at which point they at which point they should probably wipe the saliva off of their fangs and put them back in their mouths or they may expose the black little souls that they are. Now that things are confirmed, hopefully they can stop all of the harassment and I can stop dodging the continuous bullets."

Moving on, Nicole Kidman and husband Keith Urbman are about months past the rumor stage. A five-month update photo was displayed at ET Online.com on February 20, 2008.

Since the public announcement of Nicole's and Keith's pregnancy, they were both reported to be very proud of their new arrival. Nicole appears to be doing the responsible thing, as she was seen in her workout clothes walking out of Revolution Fitness in Los Angeles as late as March 5th.

Kidman had to battle rumors that she was sipping wine backstage at the Oscar's Award ceremonies, however. Katherine Olim, Nicole's publicist immediately squashed this rumor.

"Nicole Kidman most certainly did NOT drink white wine or any other alcoholic beverage backstage. She had water and lemon zinger tea. That's it. I know, I was there with her. I cannot remember that last time that Cindy Adams got anything right. She's an idiot, and you can quote me."

Older baby reports include that of Actress Marcia Cross of Desperate Housewives. She is another over-40 celebrity mother who gave birth to twins Eden and Savannah on February 20, 2007, right before her 45th birthday. This was a little over a month after she was put on precautionary bedrest, and about a month and a half before she was due.

Her new babies just turned one year old, and have been seen with the mother in photos. They appear to be healthy and happy, despite the fact they had been born prematurely.

A little over one month prior to the birth of Cross' children 43-year-old Olympic Swimmer and Television Announcer Sharron Davies gave birth to a baby boy. It was not an easy road for her, as previously she suffered two miscarriages in four years. During this time, Davies stated her optimism despite her troubles. While she was in a sports relieve event in Devon she said, "We are very optimistic and happy but we are cautious too...Giving birth at 43 doesn't worry me. I am in better shape than most women 15 years younger..."

The fact that there are more older celebrity and non-celebrity moms is no news. For one, the Guardian UK reported that pregnancy rates had doubled 15 years in the years preceding 2006 in certain areas of England and Wales. However, it is news that the trend is continuing, and that there is more and more support for mothers over 40.
